A great practice amp.

Bought this for my 10 year old daughter's first bass amp. I wish it had been my first amp! Power is substantial for a small combo- I can hear every note she plays clearly even when I'm 2 floors away in our house. And that's only at 9 o'clock on the volume. Tone is very good and controls are simple. It's the perfect teacher/student amp because there are 2 inputs with individual volume controls (the tone controls overall sound). I don't think this would have the power for a full band rehearsal with drums, but it will easily take her through the next several years of learning electric bass. Having a 10 inch speaker gives it a huge tone advantage over other small bass amps with 6 or 8 inch speakers. Power cord is detachable which is always a plus.

This was my first amp. Ive had it for a few years and its never done me wrong!! although it does get distorted when you crank its volume past half way. I would suggest this as a practice amp, unless youre playing very small venues. the tone is great, and it handles all styles very well. its a great little combo! So if your looking for a beginners amp, or something to practice with, i highly suggest this 'un!

Just played this tonight

I played this tonight instead of my own rig, because I was letting someone else borrow mine. (I play a 100W SWR Workingman with 2x10's). This amp sounded great. I got a fat bass tone that was very close in quality to my own rig. The AB50 was plenty loud enough - even with a solid drummer. We were also running the vocals through at the same time. We did get a little feedback, but the mic placement wasn't ideal. It's amazing how useful this little amp is. Big time, clean sound all the way around.

I also play lead guitar, and one of my amp's is the Vox ACTV4 (4W, 1x10, tube). Awesome little amp w/PERFECT rock tone. I can't wait to get the two going in the same room. The smallest arena rock concert you'll ever see!

I played the Acoustic big rigs back in the early 70's. This little amp is true to that quality and ease of use. The wedge shape is very handy and well built with the port along the bottom. I play a Fender Precission with nylon wound strings. Although this amp is really designed for acoustic electric bass it still sounds nice and clean with the tone properly dialed in. Read the directions. My bass has a pre-amp (with no adjustment) and that required me to use a lot less LOW tone than I usually use but the amp sounds smooth, clean, and well balanced. I play mostly bluegrass gospel and some southern gospel. If you work with a larger group or with a drummer this may not be enough power but it is top quality and a very nice sound. The wedge shape makes it stightly awkward to carry but the thick soft rubber carry strap helps a lot. I can't wait to try some truly acoustic instruments in this amp.

I bought this to use as a practice amp for my electric & upright bass. This little amp really thumps for a 50 watter. Great usable tone & I was very surprised at the output. You can crank this amp & the signal stays clean. This amp would be great for lower-volume club gigs as a stage monitor, or for coffee house gigs. With the 2 channels and XLR & 1/4" combo inputs this could be a versatile amp for mic'd instruments or vocals too. It's a great value for the money - an amp you will use often.
