For what this thing is and what it does...well...it's tops. 200 watts of that classic Ampeg sound delivered in a lightweight package. This was the biggie for me. I'm tired of carrying around huge amp stacks (my former 500W Hartke full stack) or 60+ pound combos (my former Ashdown Electric Blue 180/15). The head of this half-stack weighs a little over 9 pounds and the cab is only 26!!! Talk about easy to carry!!!

NOTE: This amp is NOT for everyone. If you're looking for stadium-level volume or need a big rock sound, look elsewhere.

I play bass in my 12-piece (5 horns) blues/blues-rock band. I send a signal to the mixing board via XLR directly out of my Bass V-Amp Pro. This puppy is the stage monitor for me and my drummer.

However, when we play as a 5-piece blues band in a smaller setting, this is my stage amp. For me, it's a beautiful double-duty package that weights virtually nothing (compared to heavy combos and stacks).

There's nothing fancy on this rig but it does have an effects loop (I use the return from my Bass V-Amp Pro) and an XLR out if you want to send the signal to a board. Power, tone, gain, volume, limiter and a 15dB pad for active instruments. All very basic but the loop and XLR are exactly what I need...nothing more.

The sound is identical to an Ampeg 2x10 combo but you don't have to carry all that weight. At 62-years old, I'll leave the bigger stuff to the younger generation.
