I LOVE this amp! I've had it for 3 years now. I pair it with a 15 cab when I want it tall enough to set a beer on it. This thing rules the world. Sounds great on its own and sounds great with effects. If you're strong enough to heft this thing around, you will not be disappointed. Has been completely reliable. I even let it roll off 2 stairs (was on casters & I turned to open the door coming home from a gig) and it didn't miss a beat. Takes a whumpin' and keeps on thumpin'...

Great amp although heavy. Loud enough for most jobs. Just add a 15" speaker for bigger jobs. Mute button should mute the DI out, that would make it perfect. I added an SVT 15 E for big power and sound and it can the carry any gig. Still better than hauling an 810 around

This amp is pretty awsome. The sound quality of it is true ampeg (sounds good no matter what you have it dialed to.) I love the kickback feature. That makes it very easy to hear. The volume is loud enough to do any room if you are using it in conjunction with a PA. The only thing I don't like about the amp is that when you mute it, it doesn't mute the balanced out line to the PA. This doesn't allow you to mute and tune because the sound is still coming out the mains. If you buy this amp you might also get an A/B switch to mute. I have used an SVT III Pro for the past eight years and I like this amp just as much, It sounds awsome.

Disappointing Amp, Save Your Money!!!

I just got this amp in December and did not even start using it until March and it is already broken. The sound is coming out distorted like it has a ripped speaker cone and the trim's rivets must have vibrated off because the trim just fell off. Now, I have to spend hundreds of dollars more just to ship it to Georgia to get an Ampeg-approved service center to fix it and somehow find a box large enough to fit it in because the dealership I bought it from took the box. I've only used it for practice maybe 10 times so far and haven't even used it to it's full capacity. It's heartbreaking to have spent as much money as I did in purchasing an amp from a reputable company only to be disappointed by the product and the company's lack of compassion in helping me fix these issues.

Sorry guys. I unpacked this amp, plugged it in, dialed in my tone, then flubbed the speakers before I reached stage volume. I packed it up and sent it back within 30 minutes. This amp is not loud enough for professionals. Maybe a good practice amp. Tone is wonderful, controls are nice, sound is awesome, but hit an E string or a B string at half volume and listen to the speakers absolutely flub like an elephant fart. Not cool for a gigging musician. Here's a realistic comparison. Ever heard of a Peavey Data Bass? Ampeg BA 500 is half that volume at best. Take it from me, I have a Data Bass I play every gig, and the Ampeg can't hang. Too bad all the reviews led me to believe this amp was gig worthy.
