The Ampeg BA600/210 is not just another everyday bass combo. Even though it packs dual 10" LF drivers, an HF horn (with Level control), and a whopping 600 watts of pure power, the BA600/210 is easily transportable. You get Ampeg's legendary tone-shaping thanks to it's multi-stage 12AX7 tube preamp, style control, 3-Band EQ, and Ultra-Hi/Lo switches, all of which make it extremely versatile. It even lets you choose between 2 channels, the vintage B-15 channel and a more modern tone with the simple click of a switch.
By integrating a Class D power section and universal switching power supply, Ampeg was able to keep the BA600/210's weight factor low, without sacrificing power output or sound quality. The combo also features a variable compressor, a selectable pre/post XLR tube DI with Level control (the same as Ampeg's SVT-DI), and an effects loop.
If you're a semi-pro to professional player seeking high-powered tone in an extremely versatile and portable package, this bass combo from Ampeg is a great solution.

It's got great features. Lightweight, portable, loud and it sounds like an Ampeg. The quality and durability are terrible. Mine fried after less than a month so I was able to get a refund. I wasn't even gigging it, just using at medium volume for practice. All I've heard is horror stories about the amp and I bought one anyway and now I have my own to tell. Pure crap!

The amp blew up at the first gig. No power at all. I sent it back to Ampeg. I asked them why the modern channel only had 1/2 the power of the vintage channel. They said "that's the way it was designed". I also asked them what they had to fix. They said they replaced all the tubes and resoldered a bunch of stuff. Not what you would expect from a brand new amp.
Once I got it back it works OK but it just doesn't sound that great. 600 watts? Hard to believe.
The only thing good I can say about the amp it that it's lightweight. Definitely not worth the money.

I was interested in this rig because it's only 50 pounds with 600 watts of power. I have been using it for 5 months. I am on my second one because the first one "blew up", not the speakers, but the amp! The cabinet is poorly made (on both). The sound is poor (sounds hollow) despite many adjustments. I'm surprised this is an Ampeg. This is a bad buy!

Great On Paper...

I bought this amp a couple months ago and have been using it in various venues ranging from my living room to a 1000 person auditorium and I am very disappointed. First of all, the amp rattles like crazy because of poor construction. I took it apart and some of the mounting screws and bolts were missing and some were sliding around inside the amp. But even with all the screws in place, the chassis is simply not secured to the cabinet well enough. It also is definitely not 600 watts loud; it's barely loud enough to go with a full band. The direct out is decent and if you couple it with a good PA and sub, this thing rocks. The vintage channel is pretty smooth sounding but the modern is pretty much unsuable. If you must have this much power, save up and buy a head/cab configuration.

I have been in the market for something light yet loud. What bass player hasnt been? I waited for my first BA600 210 to come in, backordered, recieved it 3 weeks after the order was placed. Not too bad of a wait. The features and concept of this amp, weight to power ratio, are great. I pulled mine out of the box and it had two dents in the tolex across the front edges. Turned it on, adjusted the eq, listened to both channels and was pleasantly pleased with the sound. Then I turned to volume up to 50% and had some very loud vibration noise coming from the metal chasis of the amp itself located on the back. Tighted up all the screws, still resonant frequency noise from the back of the amp. Due to the dings in the tolex, I sent it back and got another one. When it came in, I pulled it out of the box and tightened all visible screw heads. I then adjusted the eq, turned it up to 50% and presto!! Same problem. I called ampeg and they said this is a recurring problem, the are working on a solution. I tried really hard to like this amp. I love the features on the amp, the concept, the weight, two channels, ampeg tone, etc., but when you hear it rattle just as loudly as you are playing, there is a problem. Ampeg was dead on in the concept of the BA600 210, but it is not made well. I also do not think the two 10's would have handled the 600 watts at say, 75% or more, volume level. Until the rattling, vibration noise issue it fixed by Ampeg, I would not recommend this combo.
