The Ampeg SVP-Pro Series Bass Preamp uses 5 - 12AX7 tubes to provide the true, rich, tubular tone only a genuine multivalve signal path can generate. Tube Drive Control gives you precision command over just how hot those babies burn. Input peak LED, input pad and bright switch, mute function (to avoid those annoying clicks when you switch instruments mid-song), balanced line out, effects loop, 3 EQ knobs, nine-band graphic EQ, and tuner out give you all the pro flexibility you expect from Ampeg. 19"W x 1.75"H x 10"D. 9 lbs.

Ampeg SVP-Pro Series Bass Preamp Features:

  • Five 12AX7 tubes
  • Balanced line out
  • Effects loop
  • Nine-band graphic EQ
  • Five-position mid tone control
  • Tube Drive Control
  • Input peak LED
  • Input pad & bright switch
  • Mute function
  • Tuner out

This is the thing you need to generate the tone you crave. This is a price you can swing. Make the right decision. Make yourself a very happy guitar player.

After 30 plus years of playing bass I finally found my sound with this pre-amp. The warmth and tone that's available with this pre-amp allows me to be phat at any venue. I salute Ampeg!

this is a great addition to any set up that is lacking in tone. unlike other reviewers, i get absolutely no extra hum or noise, but it may just be my setup. it gives that amazing ampeg tone for a small price and can just be added on to any existing setup.

it's a bit noisy, but that it isn't noticeable when you're playing. and it has that fat ampeg tone... a nice full sound, good midrange controls... i have another big name tube preamp and tube head that are now "backup" items.

After trying about every bass preamp/DI that I could get my hands on, a friend brought over an SVT3 Pro for me to work on. Fortunately, I got it working right and got to play with it for a while. I liked it so much that I started shopping around for one and came across the SVP Pro, which is essentially the same preamp as the one integrated into the SVT3. I bought one and, from that point, the shopping around was history. I have 2 American Fender P-Basses one with active electronics, and one without. I also play an old Rickenbacker 4001. This preamp make them all sound super. Great unit for the price.

When my band went to the recording studio we started getting ready and I saw one of these babies on top of an Ampeg SVT-810E bass enclosure. I Bought my multi effects unit and a wah for my bass and when I was trying it out I was saying to myself "My Multi effects is ruining the sound!" It pumped out a loud and clear sound. Very good! Ampeg always does the job right.
