LOUD CABINET

I bought this cab last year and have been content with it since. On tour it has been performing well at shows. At larger venues we put a mic on it, but it saves space in the trailer so thats a plus! It hits the lows better than the 8x10 in my opinion.

get the 810 or pro 410

I had a 610 before the 810. The 610 hits all frequency's but isn't really great at any of them. Aside from massive low end the new 810 has the option of running as 2 410s so you can run a bi-amped or stereo rig with two heads or just use half the cab if its to loud for the room. If you play rock or metal and normally mic your cab the 810 without a horn is better because you get your highs sounding good threw the PA or on a recording(which is what matters right). If the 810 is to big check out the pro series 410 a buddy of mine has one and it sounds great, better than the 610. And if you get classic series cab and you gig alot I would recommend a roadcase because the grills are cloth and the vinyl stuff tears, I put my 810 in a roadcase the week I got it and it looks brand new after 3 years and is easier to move when layed down and rolled on 4 wheels.

Had some problems, but I still love it

I originally had my heart set on an 810, but needed to go with a 610 due to issues with transportation (even this thing barely fits in the back of the car). . Our guitarist got an old Fender stack a week or two earlier than I got this and we've brought the entire band up with us. A bit of a QC issue down the road though, then my tweeter started acting up. I thought I blew it but it turned out to be a bad wire job on Ampeg's part. Got it repaired without a fuss and haven't had problems since. In summary, make sure the insides are up to check before you gig with it but if you need it as a space saving alternative to the 810, get it.

6x10 great for size, not for price

The Ampeg 610 cabinet has a great sound but is somewhat lacking when compared with the 810. I've played it with an SVT-4PRO and an Ibanez 6 String BTB bass (active pickups) and it does sound good, but lacks the overall power you get from the 810. And for only 50 bucks less than the 810, it's simply not worth the savings by any means, unless you simply cannot afford the room to house the 810 - the 610's only advantage is its smaller size.

Sweet little cab

I was at the music store and I saw this thing next to an 810E. The first thing I thought was that it's not going to be as powerful. I was wrong!! I plugged an SWR 350x into it, and started flailing away on a Warwick RockBass. The sound was so intense that they came to tell me to turn down! I was so shocked, that I almost cried. If you can afford this thing, get it. If not, dream about it.
