My Cab Can Eat Your Cab

2 tours, 135 shows and I am here to tell you this is the cab that will go the miles. Punchy with out being muddy, and able to take what every head you plug into it. This is a pro's cab not the kinda thing your going to shove into the back of your Honda Civic. I tour with 2 of these and it takes a trailer to do it. All the weight of the cab is more then worth for the sound. When you play bass you want your sound to be felt and herd, to do that your going to need a wall of speakers... This is a wall on wheels. From smooth to grind you will be able to pull out the sound you want. The only complaint about this cab is all aesthetic. For reasons that work against everything ever, Ampeg has never gotten away from using tolex and acoustic fabric to cover the sides and speakers respectively. That being said as your grand mother covered her beloved couch with plastic, so should you cover this with a good live in case. You paid a grand for this cab don't be cheep in the care of it. IF you take care of it, IT will take care of you! This maybe the cab your father depended on but with the right sound re-enforcement you will get a tone he never thought about! And don't worry this bad boy can take the highest powered, pickups and the hottest pre-amp you can throw at it. Pairs up nicely with any Ampeg head or Line 6 products. In the end this cab has the only two things that really matter. Dependability and Tone. Thats all you will ever need!

You will feel the difference

You can actually feel the notes coming out of this thunderous cab like a punch to the chest. A jet engine produces 140db of sound and this cab will cut through a mix of jetliners like they weren’t even there. The 810E produces great tones due to it’s internal 210 x 4 internal cabinets construction. You can go as loud as you want and still keep all the great tone and fidelity you want. This cab was made to be played mono bridged through a 1600w amp and longs to be connected to a “big gun” amp; Mesa, Ampeg, GK, Carvin, SWR, you name it. The bigger the amp, the better, it has no limits. Don’t stand in front of this cab at full power, it may be dangerous. Mine is mono bridged into an SVT 4 Pro. Make sure you’re using the correct Ampeg wired Speakon connector to get all the power from your amp. You will feel the difference.

the ampeg 8x10 is the definitive pro cabeinet for bass players, and has been since the seventies. it sounds wonderful with its ringing clear tones, thunderous (for tens) lows, and inner ear shattering volume. overall, a good purchase, and i do recommend it. however, they are no longer american made! mine was produced in china, and the svt head i was going to buy new was made in korea. i got a used american head which to me is all the difference, but unfortunately, a good condition used american cab is difficult to come by. do your homework and shop around!

I've owned this cabinet and toured all over the country with it for over a year. It gets the job done, but if you want superior quality, tone, an customer service, go with an Aguilar instead. I replaced my SVT-810E with an Aguilar DB810, and I haven't looked back. Compare the specs. You'll find that the DB810 is FAR better than the Ampeg.

p.s. Ampeg, try making wheels that don't keep breaking off.

I've always been Ampeg all the way after hearing them for the first time. I used to run an Ampeg 4x10"+1x15" but still wasnt completely satisfied. It sounded great but simply wasn't quite loud enough. Now, using the svt-810, I am completely satisfied! Great response all around! Sounds perfect using my Warwick Thumb, American Jazz, or Gibson Thunderbird! No wander it's the industry standard! Advice: buy a flight case for it! they get tore up gigging!
