The Electric Blue 180 head produces 180 watts of Ashdown goodness via a fan-cooled, fast-transient power stage. The preamp section boasts active/passive instrument inputs, a VU-style LED input meter, 5-band EQ with Bright and Deep switches, front panel-mounted DI output, FX loop, and tuner/line out. The mighty Ashdown subharmonic generator tracks the main signal and reproduces it an octave lower, and the level control lets you to add just the right amount of low-end reinforcement-everything from a subtle thickening of the sound to unbridled, bone-crushing tone.

A 12", high-performance Ashdown BlueLine bass driver ensures exceptional attack, clarity, and low-end performance, while the extension speaker output can be used to connect an additional cabinet for use in larger venues. The cabinet is finished in a tough, scuff-proof carpet covering with protective corners and a kick-proof metal grille.

Good litle amp

Love the sub harmonic. I play a lot of bluesy rock, and think this amp is graet for that. The low end is very good with my thunderbird. The 5 band e.q. lets me adjust the high and mid just the way I like.

I had to send the first amp back because it came crushed in the box. When I pluged my bass into it and started off low, it sounded great. I have since turned this amp up and it handles all the different sounds I've asked from it. I play for a church worship team so I want very crisp, clean sounds and no hissing or "shredding" and this amp delivers. I have been very happy with the quality sound from this amp and look forward to palying it every time. It's set up to handle two instruments but doesn't sound well at all when I've done this. I'll stick with only one instrument from now on.

this amp has great clear sound and can really pick up subtleties of your playing.

the subharmonic generator is an interesting feature but you need to be careful how you use it, its great for adding an extra layer to high notes especially on soloing but on lower notes expecially in drop D or on a 5 string the sound can get muddy and undefined.

I really like the 5 band EQ which allows a pretty good range of sounds. the only thing i would say is that when using an active bass (I play a Schecter C4) don't over do the EQ on your guitar, a little muddiness can get into your sound.

If you need the volume then this amp can cater to that. i would definately recommend this amp to someone looking to move on from their first practice amp or looking for something to play small to medium gigs.

Great Little Bass Amp

I just got this amp as a practice / recording amp. I really like the XLR direct output for recording, since by setting the output level to zero, you can be totally silent in the recording studio: no speaker loaders needed!

The only reason for the "9" on "quality" is that it is not as punchy in the low end as it might be. Maybe an extension cab would help, but that defeats the purpose of portability: for that, I'll use my Fender Bassman Reissue 4x10.

It was a great value!

Good Amp

This is a quality amp. I can crank it almost all the way up and still get clean sound, even with my active pickups. My favorite features are the deep and bright buttons, and the eq. To me, the subharmonics switch is somewhat useless, but for some styles it may be good. My overall opinion: If you can afford Ampeg, do it, but this is at least as good as similarly priced fenders.
