I just bought this amp. 11-11-09 I am a new bassisit but have been playing drums for 32 years. I know the importance of a bass amp that can truly reproduce EVERY note, and do it CLEAN and loud. This little powerhouse can do just that. I added another 10" tweeter cabinet and HOLY SMOKE this thing ROCKS.

Great value 300 watt Combo

I had my eye on this since I started coming to this website and actually found one for sale 1 year old for 300 bucks! The e.q. is very versatile and hooking up another cab is LOUD. Pretty sure it doesnt do 300 watts by itself at 8 ohms so you'll need a 8 ohm cab to go with it. However, that is the industry standard in bass amplification it seems. I have for now another 15" cab hooked up to it and I move so much air its insane! I was using a 150 watt Fender combo before this and the power this Ashdown puts out is frightening. I think you can blow the speaker in it if you max the e.q. knobs and go for broke with the volume knobs. So make sure you listen good to your speaker for distortion while cranking it. That said, people looking to enter the 300 watt realm and dont have alot of money to spend should take note of this product. Berhinger may be too much of a gamble reliability wise, and G-K's entry level doesnt have the same sound/tone as their higher grade equipment. The MAG series is very comparable to Ashdowns higher grade products. Safe bet to go with this item in my opinion!

Fantastic Amp

I have owned this amp for about a year now and it has not let me down once. I stack this amp up with the Ashdown MAG 410T and the sound I get from the amp is huge, I have never heard it distort or sound anything other than fantastic.

If I have one complaint it is that this amp does not have a footswitch for the subharmonic generator, you cant turn it on and off while playing. But the new line of Ashdown Classic amps have this feature.

All in all I love my amp and will be an Ashdown costumer for a while yet.

Excellent amp for any player, any style

I wanted an amp that was light weight, loud enough for gigs, and sounded good. I DID NOT go into a store and try out many amps, and I didn't get a chance to play this one. What a wonderful surprise! It arrived 12/24/07 at 11:14 and I couldn't wait to try it. I plugged it in, set all the EQ dials to 12:00 (straight up, or half way) and set the volume to about 1/4 of the way. Man, this baby sounded INCREDIBLE! When you plug into it, play your bass and set the input level via the meter, staying just below the redline. VERY clean and articulate. The notes flew out so smoothly and the tone was incredible. I have played through a HUGE array of amps before, (even OLD tube ampegs) but this one is the best sounding so far to me. I play old rock, blues, some country, a little bit of heavy rock/metal, and this amp will fill the bill. I used my Warwick Corvette bass, and it never sounded so nice. I would HIGHLY suggest this amp to anyone looking for a light weight, great sounding LOUD bass amp. Even at low volumes, this thing rattled the guitars hanging on my studio wall. You can get great big thick deep bottom at low levels, which is hard to achieve with most amps. The sub switch works great when you play higher notes. I didn't hear it a great deal on the low notes (open E) as much. The EQ settings were very usable, meaning that a small adjustment made changes that you could actually hear! I LOVE this amp, and would NOT hesitate to get another if this one was stolen or suffered some catastrophic event. Its more than I imagined, and in a word...Inspirational! You CANT go wrong with this amp. It is more than a dream!

I bought this about a month ago so I'd have something I could hear over a drummer. This thing gets pretty loud and I love the tone. For this price it's pretty hard to beat. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 for features is the lack of side handles. The top handle makes it little awkward to carry. I'd recommend this bass to anyone looking for a good rehearsal/small gig combo.
