This is good for what you pay for it. At the price you get a handful of effects, amps, and cab's. It is deffinantly worth the money. This is the second one i,ve owned. I started with the bass V-amp thenm got rid of it and then went for this. The rack ears are strong and it is good to go. Im in two bands and its lasted for a while with no problems yet.
But you think that behringer would allow you to plug in an exp. pedal thats not on the midi pedal that you have to buy seperately.

Don't worry about the manual

I have been using the unit for about a month and have been in several different venues so I can speak from experience right off the bat. I spent about 2 hours initially checking out the basics and verifying other comments about the uselessness of the manual. First of all, but this thing now! If you're reading these reviews and are trying to decide if it's worth it, stop reading and just buy it. Now back to the review: After worrying about being able to figure it out in time for a gig in a couple of days without the benefit of an amp to see what it really sounds like, I discovered the defaults are good and the rest are just playing around for fun. I play in churches with great sound systems and monitors and no amps on stage. No problem. When I play live in rock bands (I'm in two), I discovered the genius of the analog, non-programmable volume control on the far right. It controls what goes to the amp without affecting the send to the board. All of the sound techs I've worked with in this past month agree the sound is generally much clearer and just sounds amazing. Through the amp, it sounds wonderful but the sound from the board is even better. Bottom line, in case you missed it, buy it. Only minor negative is a road case for it costs almost as much as the unit itself. Musician's Friend might consider bundling one with the V-Amp Pro. If they have when you read this, buy that too so you don't feel stupid walking in with the box it came in.

I own this product and the V-Amp Pro for guitar and have for 4 years. These rack units, in my opinion, sound better than the Line 6 brand, live and recorded, thru and amp or direct. I read all the complaints on the pre-set, the routing capabilities of the ins/outs, the manual, but if you have ever had to program your digital gear, it really is easy. Some cases require a combination of button presses to get required results, but that is so you won't accidentally change something by bumping it in a show, etc. There are reasons for the way it's engineered. Also, the ins/outs are awesome. There are TONS of applications you can use this for - live and in studio - and that's WHY it was built. I would NOT go buy a motorcycle just to have it if I couldn't ride it. If you buy this, and I recommend it, you have to understand that you will have to LEARN to use it. Seems likes those complaining just want to turn it on to have it read your mind. If you want something that simple just buy yourself a REGULAR amp head and some stomp boxes, duh! Honestly, if you're a good bassist, you'll know that you don't need tons of effect on your bass. Effect are used to hide mistakes when it comes to bass. I mean a little chorus or distortion may be nice in some cases, but that's it. Buy it, learn it, use it, and you'll smile.

Pure Heaven

I decided to buy this to hook up to my Lightwave Systems Saber Hybrid 5 string Bass. My DAW Studio is in another room in my house. But in my master bedroom I have a big couch with some effects racked for bass next to the couch and bed. So if a get a musical inspiration while slumbering I can jump right out of bed and play something. With a Lightwave Bass I can turn the magnetic pickup off and just use the optical pickup. With optical pickup and a preset I made in first three minutes of powering up my Bass V-Amp Pro, I am in heaven with this unit. I played for two hours on this one self made preset. Not a trace of feed back are hum, this unit compliments an Optical pickup system in spades, and with the ability to run a digitl signal right out to a recorder I can lay down some chops for transfer to the Music room later on.

This unit is Ideal for any bass player looking to expand their tone. After taking the time to dial in your sound this thing can blow your hair back. I have had a used V-amp for about a year now and it continues to impress me. The effects are not the greatest but I never use effects anyway. Take the time time to learn how to use it and you will love it.
