The Boss GEB-7 Bass Equalizer Pedal is compact in size but features a wide frequency range - from 50Hz all the way up to 10kHz. It has 7 sliders, 3 of which cover the critical midrange (400Hz, 500Hz, and 800Hz) where the character of the bass sound is determined. Each slider on the Boss GEB-7 equalizer pedal boosts or cuts over a +/-15dB range, allowing for substantial tone-shaping capability.

If you can't afford a top notch bass...

...then get this pedal!!! Other than playability, I feel that the tone that a bass guitar produces is what really makes it a high quality instrument. I am an experienced musician who has just recently started getting back into playing bass. I picked up a Rogue LX200B Series II Bass Guitar, which by the way is an excellent bass for the price. However, it didn't take long for me to realize that the pickups did not produce the amount of output that I would have liked. I decided to buy this pedal in hopes that it would boost the output of my guitar and it did more than just that! It made my bass louder and produce the kind of tone that you could only get from a bass with active pickups and electronics! So, if you're a bass player on budget like me who can't yet afford an Ibanez Soundgear or an Ernie Ball Stingray, then GET THIS PEDAL! You won't be disappointed.

I bought the GEB-7 a few weeks ago (I was in dire need to buy something new, as I hadn't in what seemed like an eternity). As soon as I plugged it into my rigged and dropped the mids into nonexistence I noticed an immediate (if immaculate) difference. The sound that I recorded my band's debut album with sounded paltry in comparison to my new, crushingly intense tone. With a good bit of distortion and the GEB massively scooped my bass sounds as if it's running through Dime (of Pantera)'s rig. The sound and the difference is massive.

Oh, and it's great for everything, not just metal. It can pump out some great dub and reggae-style tones. This thing can improve any rig, guaranteed!

I switch between a P/J Bass and a Dean Pace electric upright. If it weren't for this pedal, I would be a slave to the soundman. Instead, this pedal allows me to have my standard bass sound, and with the click of a switch, have my upright sound dialed in right there. This is a GREAT value, and the most important pedal I have next to my tuner.

great for a volume cut

because this pedal can be really noisy if you boost any frequency, I actually use this sparingly to cut my tone, then I can turn it off and my sound just hits you in the colon, not what I intended to use it for but its turned out to work great as a volume cut because I don't like the fading volume of volume pedals.

Complete Tonal Control

This thing, paired with my CS-3 compressor, CEB-3 chorus, and ODB-3 overdrive gives me exactly the tone that I was searching for. I wasn't exactly sure what the tone I was looking for was, but after buying this thing, I knew I had it.

After experimenting with the "mid-scoop", (that sounded great when I was playing by myself, but nothing cut through when the band played with me), I found out that thr 500hz is the sweet spot.

Personally, I now leave the EQ on my Ampeg BA115 and the guitar itself flat, and I do my only tonal shaping on this pedal. The simpler the better.

A little experimenting and this thing can get you any tone you want.

The operator sounded friendly, the "please hold" music simply looped, the annoying computer reminding you that you are still on hold was not needed, however the actual customer support was great! Besides the odd fact that the online extension given to be connected to customer support didn't connect you to anything, if you call again and stay on the line till you are connected to a "person" just ask to be transfered to customer support. He suggested working with Best Buy customer support as they usually have their own 30 day policy (which I didn't know since I bought it online) and their service on the other hand was also great however their people sound a bit bored. ...

My band play melodic metal type stuff (think Darkest Hour meet Killswitch Engage at an Atreyu show), and this compliments our style perfectly. I have various other pedals that are tucked away and are accessed by an A/B selector but this is always on, a main part of my rig. The only think i didn't like was that my level slider was a little loose and kept sliding about. But nothing a little duct tape can't solve! If this was lost I'd buy another and bolt it to my pedalboard, and if it was stolen I would buy another, not a second thought about it! ...

Superb. Been used in studios, gigs (tiny to large venues)and home recording. The narrower frequency range allows the mid to be fine tuned. All combinations of settings are useable. Been used with following basses: Rickenbacker 4003 (flatwounds); 70s Jazz; Yamaha RBX 550 (original pointy headed, basswood bodied model); Bass Collection 301; Custom walnut jazz and Epiphone SG. Amps: too numerous to mention. Used as the feed to the PA for most gigs. ...
