Big Bass Review

Big beautiful bass with some real good features: Tuner, EQ, Notch Filter. The neck is a bit thick for what I am use to playing. Had trouble with dropouts on the E string below the 9 fret. Found out that the pick-ups need to be moved under the bridge, not for me to do. Beautiful craftmanship and an outstanding case. I think I am spoiled with my old Starfire w/ Alembic guts.

Beautiful Acoustic Bass

I purchased this Breedlove Atlas Series Stage BJ350/CR4 Acoustic-Electric Bass and must say it is a well made beautiful bass guitar, from the solid western red cedar top, side edge binding and fingerboard inlays, to the Breedlove logo inlay on the headstock. The whole feel of the neck is nice. It is a bit on the pricey side but it does come with a hard shell case. It came strung with D'Addario EXP bass strings and it produces good volume but those strings are a little twangy for my taste. I wanted to sacrifice volume for a softer tone and changed strings to the Thomastik-Infeld Acousticore Phosphor Bronze (Nylon Core) bass strings but since they are a bit thinner, they sat down in the nut too far and I was getting buzzing on the first and second frets. I put back on the D'Addario EXP until I can get a new nut made up. So far I have mostly played it acoustically and don’t feel like I can comment on the electric amplified sound. The acoustic tone is good but not exceptional comparing it to my other acoustic bass, an Alvarez Regent Series RB30SC which is much less expensive. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a very good looking acoustic bass guitar with good volume and price in not the main concern.
