The battery-powered Pocket Rock-It S1b is a bass headphone amp that allows you to practice silently in any location, and have great tones at your disposal. The rotating input plug has 90 degrees of motion, so the S1b headphone amp can plug into any bass guitar jack - no cable needed!

With a "big" or "tite" setting, you'll always have the tone you need for the style you're playing. The Filter control is a continuously variable EQ that adjusts high and mid-range frequencies of the amp emulation model selected.

If you do decide to let the rest of the world in on your Poacket Rock-it S1b sessions, use the line out for recording or preamp applications. Jam with your CDs or MP3s with the bass Pocket Rock-It's line in.

Be careful with the battery

The space to hold the battery is so tight, there are certain brands of 9V batteries that will not allow you to close the battery cover without breaking it.

I have found that the following brands will not fit: Premier Value (generic drugstore brand) and Safeway.

Duracell batteries will fit--just barely. You might have to wiggle the battery and/or cover a bit to get it to close.

So far I have found that Eveready Gold fits the best. I haven't bought any Energizers yet, so I don't know about those.

If you really need the most compact way to rehearse silently, this is the way to go. Hooks right into the bass, just connect your headphones and your ipod and you can play along with your music and not bother anyone. It is not a tone monster, but I connected to it via my sansamp BDDI and that helped the tone a lot. Ultimately I decided that a small mixer, for about the same price, was the better route for me to go, so I am selling it.

It is exactly what it claims to be. It pretty noisy in both headphones and as a line in source (if you are going directly into a digital recorder, this is not a great solution), but it does a fine job in reproducing the low end. Its a great beginner HA, but next time, think I'll go with V1b series.
