A phenomenal bass

My Groove Tools Fretless 5 is an absolutely phenomenal instrument, with fit and finish rivalling anything costing 3x as much.

The p-ups are a wee bit on the bright side for my taste, but they work well with "Jaco style" fretless tones. Rest assured that there's no problem getting round, full deep tones with them either, as the pre-amp and controls are voiced very well. The 5 piece Wenge/Purpleheart wood neck is smooth and stable and extremely comfortable, the lined Ebonol fingerboard is quite useful for newby fretless players like me (and truth be told, many fretless pros use them as well -Gary Willis etc). The locking output jack is a very nice touch, and the flame figured maple top over the swamp ash body takes the cake.

If you're looking for a good fretless 5 string, you'd have to $pend much more to equal this one !

I have been playing this bass for about 6 years and it is hands down the only bass I have wanted to hang on to this long. It's playability is awesome and i get nothing but compliments on the looks and sound!!!

versitile reliable guitar

The picture of this guitar does it no justice, the figureing of the maple is stunning and on the back the transition from the body to the neck is cut to flow down instead of dropping off at 90 degrees. I have been playing bass for 8 years and have had this bass for 7 months. It came set up well except that I had to adjust the truss rod to stop the ratteling. It is VERY easy to play compared to my fender roscoe beck v jazz, the strings are closer togeather and the neck is thinner. My only problems are: the bridge will not fit a large gauge b-string(over .130). And because of the slightly larger and sharp horn on the top the neckstrap button must go on the back. all in all this is a great guitar.
