ive owned this amp for about 2 weeks and a half.this amp had to be exchanged for a new one within the first week of owning it due to the distortion leaking into the clean channel .distortion is very annoying and cuts out alot but if you get a good one it would be a good begining amp but if your looking for a good top of the line amp go fender .ow the octave is decent

I have this bass and was very happy with my purchase. I'm in a metal band and we play shows almost every weekend and the two guitarists both have huge powerful half stacks. My little combo keeps up with both of them and I have not had one problem with it. It does what it claims to do, and a little more. If you're looking for a bass amp to let you be heard, this is your best choice. The only downfalls are the distortion isn't the best, and it's incredibly heavy. The thing weighs almost 90 pounds, and there is no easy way to carry it. Other than that, it's perfect.

I recently purchased this amp as a step up from a 15W practice amp I used when not playing through the amp at a friend's studio. The sheer volume on this thing is amazing! The lows are crisp and defined without losing any growl, and the highs get high without sounding tinny or thin. The included distortion effect is as good as any other effect, and have since stopped using my Boss distortion pedals which don't seem to keep the growl as well. While I disagree with the octave effect -- it doesn't seem to cut through your main master feed -- it's still okay to just make you seem louder for more solo-ey bits. The tuner -- I LOVE THE TUNER!! -- I use it non-stop. Unlike some handheld tuners, it seems to respond almost instantly, enabling you to stay in tune even on the fly. A welcome step up for anyone who doesn't need a half-stack at home or for small gigs!

Buy an Ampeg

I bought this amp before reading any reviews... I should have done more research. To start, the amp is built very well and it's fit and finish is of good quality. Secondly, this amp does have a very good low to medium volume tone considering it is solid state and has no tweeter. It has most of the features that you would expect with an amp of this price but at the same time, you probably won't use them. The distortion is corny sounding, same with the octave feature. The amp is great for home practice but DO NOT take it to a gig unless you will be miced or use the direct-out. I played a small gig un-miced and had the volume at about 5-the overload light was on the whole gig! Remember, 5 on a 100 watt amp is NOT very loud. The next gig I started micing the amp. With the volume at 3-4 and the mids and highs punched up a little it does Ok. It also made some strange noises and cut out a couple of times-not good! Even though this amp is ok I would recommend spending a little extra and getting an Ampeg. Ampeg is the real deal and doesn't cost that much more. I ended up buying an Ampeg BA115HP and am much happier with it. The Ampeg has great tone and more volume. I also don't worry if it's going to turn on or not!

I have used many better amps in the past. This amp is deffinitly not worth the price. I doesn't get the best tone, but if you are playing for a band that is just starting out, or isn't going anywhere fast, its perfect
