Suprisingly not bad...

I got one of these at a pawn shop awhile back as a joke. Honestly though, I was shocked when I brought it home. It is of incredibly high quality for a bass with in this price range - from the tuners to the neck to the body to the craftsmanship - I was really shocked.

Even more shocking was that the stock pickups actually sounded... good! Really amazing for a bass in this price range. It delivers a really really deep sound that outdoes even my J-bass's low sound. Its deep sound is at just the right level instead of sounding "too deep" like an upright as most short scales do. I really couldn't believe it.

Now for the negatives: The finish is pretty good, but not excellent. I have the butterfly, and the image on it is very obviously a decal. The bass is only able to produce one sound; deep, but not to deep. It's a nice sound, but if you want variety, it's quite lacking. Other than that, the only criticism is that it's short scale, which can be good or bad, depending on your interests.

A Great Starter

I bought this bass for my daughter and can't stop playing it myself. For a short scale 4-string it is perfect and very playable with good action. It also comes from the factory well set-up.

My daughter has never played before and within an hour she had learned her first song.

My only complaint about it is that the body style is not very well balanced. It's a bit neck heavy and tends to take a nose dive if you're not holding it.

Blow away the crowds..

I decided one day when my guitarist and I got paid from work and had some extra cash laying around we got the idea for an upcomming show our band was playing in.. why don't I buy one of these daisy rock guitars to get a good laugh from the crowd and just to joke around with friends, etc. but then I got the idea, why don't we load it up with some EMG's. so Bassically after we got the instruments, and waiting around to purchase some emg pickups for them. well long story short.. we play metal by the way.. when we walked came out on stage and hooked up our new daisy rock guitars, we got some serious "wtf/are you kidding me?" stares and smiles but when we began the first song and we all hit that first note (I am using an Ampeg stv 4pro Amp and a ampeg 8x10 svt classic Cabinet) everyone was in shock and awe to hear such massive sound comming out of those whimpy instruments.. heh.. to tell you the truth, I own a 1975 fender jazz bass, an ibanez ergodyne, and an ibanez sr810 and with those emg's I put in the daisy rock bass, it sounds better than them and much more powerful.. well not volume and eq wise(since the 810 and ergodyne are active) but just the tone and even the playability were awesome.. Especially since the necks are slimmer than normal probably due to being tailored for little girls, it was extremely easy to play.

So yeah, I highly recommend getting one of these, especially if you want to pull a joke on friends/crowds, and I definitely recommend purchasing a set of emg pickups for it.
