Budget Bass

This bass plays very good for the price. It has a very thin neck and is very balanced and light weight. It doesn’t seem very road worthy but if you play in a band with different tunings and u need something on a budget then you should look into it, but if you want a real good bass check out ESP they can take a hit and have very good tone.

Great Guitar - BUT

Bought this guitar about 2 1/2 months ago and was very pleased with a fex exceptions: Firstly it arrived dead and would not play. Having ,any tears of electronics experience, I decide to fix the problem which turned out to be an improperly soldered connection from the battery to the pre-amp circuit. Secondly the giutar arrived WAY out of tune and covered with dust and powder (Easy enough to tune it and clean it). The finish was excellent and the neck was straight, once the other issues were taken care of it turned out to be an EXCELLECT bass and well worth the price.

About a week ago I ordered an exact same bass as a spare for future use, and it also arrived with some small issues. One rorary pot was scratchy and was fixed by blowing it out with a can of low pressure compressed air. This bass also arrived FILTHY and way out of tune-again easily fixed issue-but none the less it doesn't speak well for Deans quality control department. I would still recommend Dean guitars as they are a very good value, just be prepared for some tweaking right away.

Bass played well, sounded pretty good too. Not as hot as my friend's Dean, another model with active also, but for the money seemed like a bargain. About3 months later it is dead. Absolutely no sound at all. Checked battery and obvious, no obviouosly bad connections or anything, but don't know the cause of the problem at this time. Very disappointing and inspired me to buy a passive bass, which can easily be fixed on the spot if there's a problem. I may pull out the preamp and use it as a backup, or may get rid of it.

Bought this bass to use for gigging on the weekends. Good looking guitar, sounds good, love the active pickups. For the money, it's a great deal. From the box, I had to have the guitar setup because the action was too low and there was some string buzz. Also, the fret edges are not very smooth and I catch my hand on the sharp edges while playing. I'll have to spend extra money to get those fret edges smoothed out before it will be useable for me. If you can do the fret filing yourself, and tweaking the action to work out buzzes, this is a great deal. If not, expect to pay someone a little more money to set it up and work out those fret edges.

This is the best quality bass you can get for the price. You get amazing tone. I bought it for my first bass I've had it for about a year and a half. The only problem I've had is I didn't have an extra nine volt battery for the pickups the first time it went dead was in the middle of a song but other then that really worth it.
