I love how big this bass is, i feel small(6'2" & 300lbs)...plays great. I bought used outta the want ads for 100.00 w case. Unplugged its loud, plugged in...the mids and highs are great but the lows do need help, and my amp had the bass boost on. still you cant go wrong. This is my 3rd Dean and im coming back for more

I play bluegrass and old time country music and needed something to play around the house and jam sessions without having to lug around my upright bass. I recieved this guitar yesterday and played it last night. It has a good sound but I will put flat wounds on it soon. The low end has some fret buzz on the "A" string and I think that getting rid of the strings that are presently on it will help with this small problem. Overall, I am very pleased with this instrument especially for the price! I am going to plug her in this weekend and see how she sounds through the amp.

im not a big fan of Dean electric basses and was extremely skepticle about their acoustics also, but i played it cause it was the only bass in the acoustic room. It put out more sound than a victor bailey signature, even with stock strings. but the electronics werent as fancy as the fishman on the Fender. i did not plug it in so i dont know about them. but i would buy this bass to play around the campfire and pickin with my pals. if you want it, buy it. if you dont like it, send it back and save for a michael kelley

Great mass produced bass for the money. you must check neck and all frets before you purchase. First one I tried was a mess. Second was OK but had a high 17th fret that needed to be filed (easy warranty fix). I use this live with a GK Backline 350, my other bass are an 82 Ibanez RS824BB & a Re-issue fender tele. Dean is easy to play, killer sound, but you have to be light.

good sound for an acoustic

This base is definitely harder to play than an electric--it's big, for one thing, and your hands will get a work out. Still, it's a nice bass for practicing when you can't plug in and has a pretty big sound for an acoustic
