think twice about this pedal

i have had this pedal for about six months, and im beginning to wonder whether or not this was a good purchase. I bought it because i was looking for a nice versatile pedal. well, im disapointed. as of now, about half the rubber feet have fallen off. plus, and i take fairly good care of my stuff. the pedal feels really light and cheap compared to my ehx big muff PI. now to the good, the tuner on it is pretty nice, also, the drum machine is pretty fun. next, the effects are fun, but not practical or useful. and if you're thinking about using cheap or thin cables, forget it, you get a horrible hum, and you get a hum in the background even if you use nice cables. all in all, if you got $ to blow, get this. if not, get a better quality electro harmonix or something like that

Got this pedal a few years ago from my dad. Thing is kinda neat to play with, but none of the effects go above or beyond in their quality. It's a good buy for the price, but you'd be better off dropping a little more money for something better.

When I first got this pedal I had no idea how to start with it. The guy I got it from told me to basically memorize the booklet. I read it constantly and realized the powers this thing holds. I have had mine for 4 years and the only thing that is wrong is that the experssion pedal is not working...I am sure I can fix it though. This pedal has taken much abuse after it being plaed with aggresively at shows. I am amazed this is all that is wrong with it. This is great deal that can help you expand your musical abilities!

More bad than good sounds

I've had the pedal for more than a year and use it with the blend control in my SWR to cut the effects levels way back. MOST of the effects (pitch shift, fretless, chorus, phase, auto-wah, etc.) are overbearing and terribly digital sounding. Most, including the octaver, don't track well and glitch badly. All this could be fixed if you could dial in the level of each effect via the pedal controls, but you can't. (There ARE preset variations for each effect that are supposed to dial it up or down but don't do a very good job. Thus having to use the SWRs effects loop level control.) That said, the amp modeling is OK, the EQ is reasonable, noise level is acceptable and the construction, tho plastic, has held up to a year of gigging. (BUT I don't use the expression pedal for volume or wah and others have said it's prone to crapping out.) I play every week with a band playing classic rock and some modern country. I still use the BP80 _subtly_ as a chorus and an outboard per-song EQ and it works well in that role. You're NOT going to come anywhere near the number of effects this thing generates for any reasonble sum of money if you try to go with analog pedals. Just keep in mind that something like a Barge Concepts VB-jr bypass looper would be in order for anyone wanting to use it with an amp without an effects loop level control. (Heck, you should have a VBjr anyway. That and the BP80 together are still cheaper than even 3 analog pedals and you'd have WAY more functionality. :)) OBTW, the drum beats and headphone jack are both "eh." If you want to practice by yourself you can do it but the quality isn't anything I'd want to put out in a recording. Overall, good value, but needs a lot work in the tracking and subtlety areas.

Very fun thing to mess around with. I mostly mess with the drum beats, sorta cheap, but it's pretty awesome.
