Much like its 4-string brother the ESP B-104, the LTD B-105 is short on scale, but big on great sound. Its extra string allowes you to delve even deeper into the barrel of bass grooves. Its dual ESP SB-5 pickups w/ESP ABQ-2 2-band active EQ capture the bright tones created by the basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. Style-wise this 5-string bass also has thick, beveled edges which accentuate the body's rounded curves. The upper horn is elongated while a deep cutaway along the much smaller lower horn gives you better access to the lowest of the 24 XJ frets. It's also got a unique angular cut at the end of the fretboard, underneath the strings, a shapely headstock, and chrome hardware, which give this bass exceptional flair.

I played this before at a friend's house and it gets a very versatile tone. The treble and bass boosters can be adjusted to get pretty much any sound you want without the need to mess with the amp settings very much. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a great inexpensive 5 string.

This bass really suprised me. First off, in person it is very dark, almost graphite looking. The neck and fretboard are so great and so comfortable. It is a physically light bass, probably lighter than alot of Ibanez BTB basses. The pickups make this tone sound better than Music Man 5 strings that I have played. The bass boost is clear and doesn't block out the true tone like other active basses. The treble boost is good too except it buzzes like crazy, maybe it just the one I got but who knows? Anyways, I had never owned an ESP before and it is flat out the best instrument I have owned/heard. So before you consider Fender, Ibanez, Music Man, or G&L, turn to ESP.

Picking out my first 5 string bass wasn't an easy decision. I had to find something that would give me a good sound and add alot of kick to my bass playing, but i also needed something in my budget, so when i found this esp bass, i knew that i had to have it! When i started to mess around with different sounds, i found that i really liked the pickups on the bass. They sound great with distortion and they really add of boost when i'm playing with my band. So this is definetley a great bass for its price and good for bassists just starting with a 5 string.

Overall a really great bass especially for the price. However I am not the craziest about how the soapbar style pickups sound(they lack the "punch) and it would have been nice to have a pick up selector overall great bass though especially considering that it has active pickups and the fretboard is awesome

Awesome Bass For The Money

I bought this bass to replace my 4-string Kona bass. What a major improvement! The deep tone itself will make a fall in love. The color is real nice, its darker in person than in a picture. With mine, I had two problems. One, is a "miner" problem, the bass comes with bad action. The strings are way to faraway from the fretboard. But no biggy, that can be fixed easy. The second one, major. The clear coating on the neck had a chip. After playing it at two gigs, it got bigger. Finally, I took it to a pro who found dipoles all along the neck. Had to sent it back, but now, my new one is PERFECT! Try comparing this bass with the Ibanez SS's for just about the same price. This bass is way better then Ibanez
