Cherry Ebony, Back Ebony, Body Closeup Ebony, Close Angle Ebony, Headstock

Like the guitar, the SG bass has been one of rock's defining instruments. This reproduction is true to the Gibson original—light, fast, and loaded with a Sidewinder humbucker and a mini-humbucker to give it tonal power, and a set neck to give it the sustain that made the original famous. Limited lifetime warranty.

I have had this bass for almost a year and there are good things and bad things about this bass. The good things are that it has good sound when ever i play it, its industructable because it never breaks whenever i drop it, and it looks cool. The bad things are that when you play it the neck has a ruff feeling, the dials on the bass keep falling off, and the action keeps on raising very high all the time. Overall this bass is okay, but gd it you buy the Gibson model of this.

Epiphone EB 3 SG Bass

My friend and I went down to our local music shop, to try this bass after hearing much acclaim. To be honest this bass we played was not quite up to par, even though the bass had probably not been intonated it sounded horrible. After comparing it to the Gibson EB 3 Bass and even the Epiphone EB 0 Bass we noticed that the scale was 6" and 8" (respectively) longer. On top of that the heel (where the neck meets the body) was uncomfortable, making playing it very difficult and "not smooth". The only thing I did enjoy about it was the control layout, especially the pickup selector switch. Even though the EB 0 is only a single pickup bass all its features are better, especially the heel.

I recently reviewed the EB-3 as an amazing value instument, and still remain consistent with that review. As I worked with the guitar for a few days, the "Sidewinder" neck pickup failed my low E string test for continuity of volume across the fingerboard. Have since aquired from Musicians Friend the cure via the Dimarzio Model One replacement pickup. This easy mod is a drop-in huge improvement to the inherent tone and volume inconsistency deficets of the lesser quality stock neck pickup supplied with this bass. Have fun and remember to thank Billy Sheehan for keeping this pickup alive, as it is a deep growler and the impetus for his Yamaha basses using the wider spaced WillPower Neck pickup from DiMarzio.

Ergonomics! Who needs ergonomics!

This bass could go for four times the price and still be a bargain. The neck has none of that baseball bat feel that I remember from the Gibson original, and unlike the Gibson re-issue it’s a true EB-3. It is beautifully constructed but the sound is a bit limited. For any Cream fan it will give you that vintage Jack Bruce mojo. It booms like a big dog, so it does not have a great sound for more delicate applications, but for vintage rock, blues, or reggae the sound is superb. The down side is that the ergonomics on this thing are non-existent. It is not so much a question of neck dive to me, as much as it the body of the bass leaning away from my torso that I find annoying. With that being said, I could not be more pleased with this bass.
