Very Good

I have played the other thunderbird models, both Gibson and Epiphone, and I can say with confidence that this is the best out of all of them. The active electronics, as on all basses, makes a huge difference, and the neckthru design is a great addition. I would recommend this over the more expensive gibson models. The reason that I didn't give this a 5 out of 5 on quality is because I play a lot of chords and high end stuff and this bass obviously presents a few problems; 1) not enough frets 2.) Frets get too big at the high end. But the sound is amazing whether youre playing chords, or just traditional bass!

I got this bass a couple weeks ago and WOW! I got the sunburst and the pictures just don't do it justice. It's alot warmer and darker than in them. The active pickups make a huge difference in sound compared to my dean. The only problem i have with that is that the battery that came for it didn't work and it's hard to get 9V over here (I live in Germany). I run this through a marshall MB15 so i didn't expect to get a great sound but it still produced awesome tone. This guitar is VERY HEAVY, and the neck dives quite a bit, but you get used to it and its not so bad if you've had other neck heavy guitars. I of course recommend getting strap locks because my strap broke. All in all great bass and definetly worth the money.

A KEEPER!

I bought this bass a little over a month 1/2 ago. I went from a Peavey Millenium BXP to this and wow. what a difference.

The thing that I will warn about this guita is the electronics can be pretty junky. After 4 days of owning the bass, I broke the output jack by simply putting the plug in. I had to take it to be fixed. the guy replaced the jack altogether because he broke it too.

Other than that, I only found that the other flaws were that it is neck heavy (I do NOT trust the strap without a lock on it) and that I found it to be a little too much in the high end sound.

The neckthrough is FANTASTIC and the active pickups make a MASSSSSIVE difference in the sound. I can't even take my Peavey seriosuly when I hear the difference. This bass has a LOT of low-end capability and I love it. If you're as much of a bass player as I am and live for that low end punch, this is the bass for you and you will NOT be let down.

If I had to reccomend it to a friend, I would no doubt. I just hope that they have better luck with the electronics than I did. besides that, this bass is a KEEPER!

The finish of the bass is MUCH different than it appears in these pictures (I got the natural Oil). I didn't (and wouldnt) buy mine online without seeing it in person first. major difference!

T-Bird Pro IV

I have always wanted a Thunderbird but could never afford one. Was never really impressed with the Epiphone Thunderbirds...until now. Bought one in sunburst 10 minutes after playing it. The neck-thru construction and active electronics give it amazing tone and sustain. Frankly, I don't see how they can make this bass for what they charge ? Mine needed some extra set up. Get the fitted case (nothing else fits). You will not be sorry.

Great!

I just bought my new Epi Thunderbird. I must say it's a badass. If you play Rock n Roll, Hard Rock or Metal, then it's the bass you're looking for. The sustain is perfect and you'll get at last the fatness, shape and heaviness you've been looking for your sound, but it doesn't mean you won't get definition. The active system must provide an extra-definition it didn't used to have (passive system). If you play rock, this is the bass you must buy. If you play jazz, funk or anything like that, find yourself another bass.

The only problem is its size and its weight. I also have a P-bass and the Thunderbird it's much bigger and heavier. You'll have to buy the Epiphone hardshell case because it doesm't fit in any other case.
