This reissue of the Fender '51 Precision Electric Bass Guitar nails all the important details of the original-including the sound. A vintage single-coil pickup halfway between the bridge and neck, 2-saddle bridge, gorgeous ash body, and one-piece maple neck and fretboard make up the killer combination that carried the low end of half the top acts of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Amoeba pickguard, vintage chrome knobs and knob plate, stunning butterscotch blonde see-through finish, and classic narrow headstock make it look as cool as it plays.

Fender '51 Precision Bass Features:

  • Ash body
  • One-piece maple neck/fretboard
  • Single-coil pickup
  • 34" scale
  • Vintage frets
  • Original 2-saddle bridge

The real deal for a real steal. Make it yours now.

Bought this bass about two years ago, and instantly fell in-love with it. On recordings it's deep, punchy, and pushes through anything. Live took a little getting use to. Setting the intonation on this thing is a practice in patients and frustration. I didn't realize I was having a hard time till I got the neck and tonation set. What a difference... the action is now lower, the intonation is as close to spot on as this bridge will allow, and now live it's wonderful. For a classic rock band with a lot of Zepplin involved, this sounds great next to a Les Paul though a marshall... Close your eyes and you could swear it's Jimmy, Robert, John, and John up there... well instrument wise anyway... great bass.

I have had this bass for about a year and played it in many shows and the biggest problem, the pickup is very very weak on the high end, the lows are so powerful it makes it worth it just to play on the two bottom strings but I cant do that its a great design and feels wonderful, but the pickup almost kills it all, its so weak even after i raised it up still no better not sure with what im going to replace it with but it will be took out for somethin with some beef on all four strings, i guess im spoiled but the Rickenbacker and Gibson Thunderbird stomp the pants of any Fender, got this one as a gift, so gotta make the best of it.

Excellent tool for your toolbox

The sound of this bass is wonderful. It has a bright and somewhat electronic sound wide open, and if you roll off the filter you get a nice solid thump that would work great for Motown. I didn't think I'd like the low frets, but with the bass set up right I actually feel like they help me play faster. It's not a "do everything" bass, but what it does, it does very well. Some people don't like the slab body, but my first "real" bass was a Tele, so it to me it feels like an old friend.

My only knock is that trying to set the right intonation with the 2-saddle bridge is an exercise in approximation.

This bass is great if you like the Fender precision bass. Very vintage with lots of punchy, warm tone. Good for any style of music, but especially motown, pop and rock. This will probably be the next bass I get.
