I picked this bass up used. The only reason I got it originally is because it was such a great deal I couldn't pass it up. Fenders prices have been getting pretty high lately. Mine has a cream, see through lacquer finish, with a maple fretboard and brown pearloid pickguard. It's really quite stunning. The finish work is flawless. They really must put a lot of work into dressing the frets on these because the neck feels like a dream. The neck also has a very nice satin finish which is way slicker than a glossy finish. Probably one of the best bass necks I've played on (I may be a little biased because I really like the Jazz neck shape) The logo and other lettering is in the typical deluxe silver color.

Sound is where I really like this bass. You can dial in pretty much any sound you want, but there is a real clarity that I didn't have with my previous passive Jazz basses. Knob 1 is master volume, knob 2 is pan between the neck and bridge pickups, knob 3 is a stacked high and low EQ, and knob four is a mid EQ. I don't run any effects, and run straight into an ampeg SVT 4-pro head (probably switching to an Orange AD200 soon or either an SVT classic). Cabs are the out of production BXT series with a 115 and a 410. I usually have my knobs set as: Master volume all the way up, Pan rolled back to bridge pickup a little, and bass boosted. This gives me really fat tone maybe a little funky, but has the clarity to distinguish 16th notes without turning them to mush.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this bass. I don't know that I would have paid full retail price for it with the Fender price increase, but I'm a bargain hunter at heart.

Anybody who says the craftsmanship is shotty, or that Shecter makes better basses is absolutely wrong. This is hands down one of the best sounding and best playing basses on the market. The sound and feel are absolutely amazing. There is a reason more pro's use this bass than any other.

I just bought this bass last week, and I love it. It's the latest model on the market. The bass has a great, smooth feel to it when playing. And it sounds amazing! I got the 3-tone sunburst with maple fretboard. A maple fretboard just feels smoother than a rosewood to me. But you will definitely NOT be disappointed with this bass. You can really dial in a lot of different sounds with the active EQ. The bass has a bright sound, which helps it not get burried in the mix of other instruments.

Top Notch!

This bass was passed down to me from my older. I have played guitar for about fourteen years had dabbled off and on with bass. I had a few cheap Ibanez things and even an old P bass copy. This is the real deal. Neck feels great, has a nice easy profile. I don't have big hands but I handle it just fine. It's heavy enough to feel solid without killing your back. The real kick is the electronics. 18 volt active, noiseless pickups! You can dial in so many tones it's sick. And I mean on the fly. Slap and pop sounds are awesome. You can tweak the setup for just about anything. I don't mess with tuning down so I don't know about that, you might want a 35" scale for that. Right now I play through a Marshall acoustic amp, not a real bass amp. Still sounds great. I have played it through a friend's 100 watt Fender combo and that's where it's at. I plan on getting a 210 Fender or maybe an Ampeg soon. If you want one bass to do it all, this is a very good choice.
