I play for over 25 years and have tried most basses on the market. Currently I have a MusicMan SR4 HH, sounds incredible by the way so as my Fender bass, the differences that I think makes the Fender a better more reliable bass is the action which is dead on right out of the box!!, plus you can get more variety of tones and the weight of the fender is light and easy to carry thru 3 hours playing. I love both basses but so far the Fender won 100% my heart. Get the best forget the rest! Fender is the American #1 bass...PERIOD!

Need to bring back 5 string

Boys let me say I love the 4 string but the 5 string is the BEAST. I bought mine through local dealer who ordered it for me the last year made. I waited 8 months to get one and I am glad I did. Best bass ever!

The first quality that I noticed about this bass was the playability. The fretboard was perfectly sized for my left hand and the action was very low, which made it almost effortless to play. Secondly was the tone; I played it with the tone controls all flat. The proximity of the pickups to the strings as well as the jazz-style bridge pickup give this bass plenty of punch without sacrificing clarity and definition. I do not yet own this bass, but am intending to buy it in the near future.

I played every bass in the store and by far, this bass had the smoothest and widest range of tones. Between the trebble/bass boost, the mid-range control and the ability to balance between the two pick-ups, you can get the exact tone you're looking for.

This bass has such a wide range of tones! I was between the American Deluxe Jazz and this one. The difference for me was I get everything the Jazz does and more.
