Black, Rosewood Fretboard 3-Tone Sunburst, Maple Fretboard 3-Tone Sunburst, Maple Fretboard Black, Rosewood Fretboard Candy Cola, Maple Fretboard Charcoal Frost Metallic, Rosewood Fretboard

The Fender American Standard Series Jazz Bass has a vintage body radius and contour for a classic vibe and feel. The Jazz Bass's body is rendered in premium alder for optimum tone and sustain. Its rosewood or maple fretboard features detailed nut- and fretwork. The neck is graphite-reinforced and has rolled edges for a broken-in feel from the get-go. HMV Bridge (high mass vintage) increases sustain, provides punchier tone, beefier looking plates and 3/8" diameter vintage saddles. String height adjustment screws have nylon patches for a tight fit that won't vibrate loose.

A 12-gauge cold rolled steel plate machined brass backstop increases mass and enhances top end. Socket head intonation screws are engineered for a tighter fit, and are now more stable. The J Bass features Fender®/Hipshot® tuning keys. They work great, and are 30% lighter, minimizing neck dip. Classic 20:1 tuning ratio, cast zinc with aluminum string posts and mounting nuts, and steel clovers. Brass worm gears, steel worm drives.

With a thinner undercoat, the Fender Jazz Bass body breathes easier and has improved sound (more wood influence). Neck pocket paint buildup has been reduced by 40%, greatly improving the wood-to-wood connection/reaction.

The included SKB rectangular design case, exclusive to Fender, has TSA recognized and accepted locks. Fiberglass reinforced nylon trigger release latching system, indestructible cushioned rubber over-molded handle with flush lock out. Injection molded feet and exclusive arched stacking system.

Bass 101. Start with the American made jazz. This is the bass all others are held to. To not have one is not knowing what bass playing is all about. You can pay more or less for a bass but not have this one, well go be a guitarest because your not a bass player.

I have been through so many basses. All I can say is that I could own two of these babies and never need anything else. Next thing is to get #2. I got the sunburst with rosewood. Amazing. Looks vintage too. Want the inca silver with maple. Looks so clean.

Fenders new American Standard Jazz bass is a dream come true. The High Mass bridge allows the strings to lie close to the frets without buzz allowing excellent action. The tonal rage is like it always was, unique and multi-layered.

I recieved this bass two days ago. I got the sunburst with maple fretboard. It really does look and sound amazing. I have been playing a mexican standard jazz for the last six years and trust me, there's a big difference. The american series is better in every way. The neck is so smooth and easy to play. The new bridge makes a big difference. It's so much better. Being able to run the strings through the body is great. This is as good as it gets as far as jazz bass's are concerned. The case it comes with is really nice too. I did change the strings when I got it. I put on some DR high beams and it sounds great. I also had to lower the action and adjust the intonation but thats normal. The only reason I gave it a 4.5 on value is because I don't really agree with the Fender price increase. But if you can afford it, you gotta go for it. Once you have it, you wont regret it.

I played professional on the circuit in the late 60s and early 70s and owned a fender american precision, which I loved to play with but in the back of my mind I always wanted a fender american jazz bass, then one day I seen one on consignment on the rack at spaceman music store, first I tried a mim fender jazz that was beside it, and wasnt too bad of a feel, then I tried the fender american made jazz and wow the second I put it into my hands I felt the quality and the and differnece in the the feel of the bass, you can just feel that it was a real american made fender guitar and being a bass player, that feeling never goes away when you have a real quality american made guitar in your hands. I had to buy it, there is just no two ways about it, imitations are imitations and the real thing is it I kiss it every time I go to bed lol, when I play a gig that bass is part of me and after playing it awhile it just molds into your hands, the american standard jazz bass is a keeper for me forever, keep up the good work fender. james blanchard ottawa canada
