3-Tone Sunburst, Rosewood Fretboard 3-Tone Sunburst, Maple Fretboard Olympic White, Rosewood Fretboard Blizzard Pearl, Rosewood Fretboard Black, Rosewood Fretboard Black, Maple Fretboard

This American Standard Series Precision Bass has a vintage body radius and contour for a classic vibe and feel. The body is rendered in premium alder for optimum tone and sustain. Its rosewood or maple fretboard features detailed fret and nut work. The neck is graphite-reinforced and has rolled edges for a broken-in feel from the get-go. HMV (high-mass vintage) bridge increases sustain, provides punchier tone, beefier looking plates, and 3/8" diameter vintage saddles. String height adjustment screws have nylon patches for a tight fit that won't vibrate loose.

A 12-gauge cold rolled steel plate machined brass backstop increases mass, enhances top end. Socket head intonation screws are engineered for a tighter fit, and are more stable. Features Fender®/Hipshot® tuning keys. They work great and are 30% lighter, minimizing neck dip. Classic 20:1 tuning ratio, cast zinc with aluminum string posts and mounting nuts, and steel clovers. Brass worm gears, steel worm drives.

With a thinner undercoat, the American Standard P Bass body breathes easier and has improved sound (more wood influence). Neck pocket paint buildup has been reduced by 40%, greatly improving the wood to wood connection/reaction.

SKB rectangular-design case, exclusive to Fender, has TSA recognized and accepted locks. Fiberglass reinforced nylon trigger release latching system, indestructible cushioned rubber over-molded handle with flush lock out. Injection molded feet and exclusive arched stacking system.

I have the 2008 model which is straight up, no series/parallel button on the volume knob or anything. Black with black pickguard and maple neck. It's got the classic sound for the history of rock and rock as well as its future. High quality, classic, classy.

The Best Precision Bass I've Ever Owned!!!

I have the 2008 Model American Standard Precision Bass in the Blizzard Pearl w/maple neck and it is an absolute dream to play and very solid. I've had this instrument for a year now and it sounds just as good as the first day I took her out of the case and tuned her up. The setup on this bass was spot on right out of the case, with nice comfortable action, and dead on intonations. The finish was just like glass, and the clear coat on the fretboard and face of the head stock really made the bass look classy. You could really tell Fender placed a lot of attention on the small details that make this bass so user friendly and overall joy to play. And this bass didn't let down in the sound department either, it still sounds like that classic P-bass of old with that fat, thick tubby sound that lends itself greatly to just about any style of music you can think of. Kudos Fender and keep up the good work !..!

This bass is a home run for Fender. The MIM P Bass was good. This is a great bass from the super playable neck/frets to the string-through body/high mass bridge, this is quality that will never go out of style. Jamerson would love it.

The new Fender American P-bass is the best one they have made since the early 60's. This thing looks great plays great and the pickups sound great. I usually change the pickups on my stock fenders but this one has that classic Fender sound. I love this bass, if you get one you won't be sorry.

As Good As Advertised, And More

I have used Fender and Gibson basses for forty years. One thing I have noted with those basses, they were all different. No two felt the same, or played the same. I did find my Fender American Standard Precision Bass to be the best out of the box bass I've used in a long time. Many things on basses come down to personal likes, or dislikes. Fender did a superior job on the entire P Bass I have. Comfortable to play, and setup very well as I like it. The neck fit to the body is flawless. The finish has no blemishes. Nice to have a good number of body colors, and fingerboard options as well. I chose the Olympic White body, and the Maple fingerboard. It looks great, and sounds even better. The Mexican Fenders are good. They don't however have the little things from the factory that takes the extra time in manufacturing to get an overall complete bass. More rounded edges on the fingerboard, neck etc. Thanks Fender, great job. Pick up this American Standard P Bass, you may not want to put it down.
