Good head for the price

I've been using the Bassman 250 head with a Bassman 410 cab for just over 6 months now. I play rather aggressive bass, with a lot of gain and distortion, and this amp has held up to it quite well. This amp has a lot more bells and whistles than most of the other amps in it's price range, like the parametric EQ for the mids. After I figured out how to use it, I like it quite a bit. Mids are important to a bass player, and this set up lets me dial in a good thick tone without getting muddy. Also, the built in compression, though limited, is a nice feature, which has helped me with recordings quite a bit. My only complain about this amp is that it's not quite as loud as I'd expect it to be. Mated with the recommended Bassman 410, the volume I get from it is not significantly louder than a few of the 115 combos I've played in the past. So far, I've never been in a situation where it couldn't get loud enough, but it's been close sometimes. All things considered, though, I don't think there is any other amp at this price point that offers very stiff competition so far as features go.
