Eye-catching vintage style with a technological twist! |
The Jaguar Bass has added a new level of cool to the world of electric bass since its introduction in 2006. Though it's based on the design one of the most popular guitars from the early '60s, don't let the Jaguar's retro look fool you—this bass is chock-full of modern features. With the goal of total tonal control, the Jaguar bass gives you the ability to switch pickups on and off, from series to parallel, and from active to passive. This provides you with a tonal palette that works for all types of players, from the set-and-forget player to the eternal tone-adjuster. Stylistically, it has a thin, fast, one-piece C-shaped maple neck that has a warm tint with a rosewood fingerboard, complete with aged white pearloid block position markers.

Great little beast

This is my first Fender and it is everything I was hoping for. It looks beautiful (I got the sunburst) and has that great Fender sound. I really like the low profile frets. Mine was “made in Japan” in 1994-1995 and did have a lot of noise with the active pre-amp engaged and noise from the battery compartment. The setup was perfect except for a little too much neck relief. I used a small flat blade screwdriver to bend the battery terminals slightly for a better battery contact which fixed the battery noise. I removed the pick guard and control plates and used metallic paint to connect the cavities. I removed the bridge pickup and ran a ground wire from the cavity into the volume/tone cavity and grounded it. Now I have no noise and a great bass.

I tried this bad boy out at a music store 40 minutes from my house. Plugged it in to a Peavey max 115 and let me tell you, it sounds amazing withe the pop slap stuff, and has a great tone. I hope soon I will be able to purchase this bass.

I have this bass for about 8 months, very nice instrument. has a fender jazz neck with a jaguar body, so if you don't like jazz necks, don't buy it, it's not like a p-bass at all. It has 2 j-style pickups (1neck, 1 bridge). a switch on/off for each, plus a switch to give you more presense to cut through music. It can be active or with a flip of the switch it's passive, so no worries if the battery dies while playing live, I had no problems with this instrument as of yet. The only thing I didn't like was the machine heads. They used cheap ones so the tuning accuracy process was a bit draggy, so i bough black Hipshot tuners and adder a D-tuner key for the E string machine. Looks beutiful with black hardware on the red model. I like black but the headstock is not painted on the black white and sunburs models, the red is the only one with a painted headstock, plus looks awsome. It's not American made Fender, but it's not the cheapy Mexican made either. It's actually made in Japan, so the quality build is very nice. The sound is similar to a Ric 4003 bass, kinda Trebly and boomy. Uses .045, .065, .085, .105 strings, harder to find in Flats, put rotosound 77s and was disapointed as they are more of brite flats and took away more low end. Just stick to the round Fender stock strings which sound great on it. I'll try d'addario chromes next on it to see how it responds to those strings, worked well on the p-bass. So yes get this thing, it's an awsome bass if you like fender jazz necks and some additional tone shaping.

This Fender Jap Jaguar, is everything and more. It has a great neck, super fast and confortable. The pickups can be warm, punchy or growl. Very versitle sound. The pickup selectors, master tone and volume, and preamp controls work wonders and you can always dail in different tones. I have an American Deluxe Jazz Bass as well and I think tone wise this bass blows it out of the water. great base, decent price and even better tone. Definately a must have bass for any bass player looking to expand their range.
