Im not a sound engineer, but iv always looked at this guitar and thought about buying it. So i did, and the second i plugged that into my new ampeg BA600 it was like my perfect sound, the tone i have been looking for. If you dont want to spend some seriouse cash but you want something that isnt overloaded with features but still has a truely good quality then you found your bass.

This bass should really be called a Precision Bass, as the only things Jazz Bass about it are the body and tuners. Plays as good as any Mexican Fender, the 1/4 Pound P pickup is a big plus, I use these on all my P-basses, the single volume knob really makes this a great minimalists bass. My primary bass before I got this was a '95 American Standard P with similar electronics, but my Hoppus is a bit warmer, and has been getting more use. The bridge isn't the greatest, but at least it's string-through.

I didn't buy this bass because of Hoppus, I bought it because I love the concept of the bass: a P-bass with a Jazz body. The price for new ones seems a bit steep, but all Fender has jumped in price in the last 2 years (and during a recession). It would be nice if they came with hardshells, but no Mexi does. On the plus side there, it's not difficult to find a decent Roadrunner case for WAY less then the ones that say Fender on them.

I don't believe P-basses are for every style of playing, and this bass is no exception. Don't let the punk aspect of its design scare you, the tone is pretty straight forward P-bass, with a bit of brightness, and all tone pots really do is take tone out of your sound. If you need to adjust your tone, get an active bass or use your amps EQ.

i have played many basses in my life and i have to say the mark hoppus signature bass guitar was the best. when i first noticed it had no tone knob i was questioning it but the tone is already so good. it sounds just like mark hoppus playing too. i have played it and decided to buy it in surf green. overall 5 star

I got this bass a couple months back. I gotta say I love the tone of those Seymour Duncans and the physical features of it make it such a beautiful instrument. It gives me an instrument as vibrant a alive as my Fender P bass and my Fender Mike Dirnt bass. Great for gigging and anything else.

I got this bass when It frist came out, for 589$ back in 2002-2003. It seems the older and more beat up It gets the better It sounds. I recommend getting this bass totally rewired. The original wiring was horrible, once you get that done. You offically own one of the best Mexican basses ever made. The thing I love most about my bass is, the vaule just keeps going up. ($.$)
