When you back up as many different kinds of musicians as Reggie Hamilton, you need a bass that can adjust. Reggie's Jazz model is set up to cover the spread. It combines a Noiseless Jazz pickup in the bridge position, and an American Series Precision pickup at the neck. The pickups can be switched to passive or active mode via a mini-toggle on the pickguard. Active mode has a 3-band EQ with boost/cut on each band. In passive mode you get master volume and a pan control between the pickups. Another custom feature is a Hipshot Bass Xtender drop D key on the E string to give you the low D without going to a 5-string.

Great all around bass

I've been playing this bass for about a year now and I absolutely love the palette of tones available. The active and passive electronics really allow you to dial up the best of both worlds when it comes to tone- anything from jazz to that geddy lee tone. There are some quality issues with this bass. My main issue being that the frets are simply too high farther up the neck, there is also a slight warp to the neck on the G string side. Other than those issues I can say I am truly pleased with this bass. I think the only thing I will do to make it better is put a badass bridge on it for some added sustain. If you want a huge selection of tones then this is your bass.

I have owned this bass for a little over a year now and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The p-style and j-style pickups were what sold me on it, but the versatility is what keeps me playing and enjoying it. the Reggie Hamilton bass has every thing you need for almost any gig you could put it thruogh.

Not your typical MIM Fender

I have owned more basses than I care to remember. I bought the RHJB because it offered the P bass sound in a familiar Jazz bass package. I went for the value of the MIM model due to the fact that I gig a lot and don't care to take pricey stuff to bars and pool parties. I am STUNNED with the quality and fit and finish of this bass. A tune up was definitely called for, but the quality control on this bass is MUCH better than any other MIM I have owned. It is equally on par with the MIJ/CIJ basses I've owned and close to the quality of the MIA basses and guitars that I've owned. Well done Fender!

Great bass!

I wanted something for sessions that wouldn't break the bank and is versatile. The RH sig model fits the need nicely. *Very* nice sounds with passive and 3 band active modes. This bass has *the* tones IMO. About the only downside is the MIM neck is kinda iffy, but I got this one playing pretty good after a fret leveling and major truss, bridge and pickup level adjustments. Given the US electronics on the 'decent enough' MIM body and throw in a hipshot drop-D tuner and you get nice bang for the buck - as long as you're willing to do a little more than just a cursory setup to get it playing good. But it's worth the effort IMO since it definitely has *the* tones and plays fairly well with excellent intonation throughout the scale when properly set up.

I bought this bass because i really wanted to have the best of both worlds when it came to bass sound. i wanted to have the deeper p-bass sound for more of a rock style sound. but i also wanted the "jazzier" sound of the j-bass for slapping and popping. this bass hit it right on the nose, the 3 band EQ is GREAT. i would much rather have the reggie hamilton than an american p or j bass, hands down. it is well worth the money.
