Solid performer, economical, reliable

I got mine three years ago and have gigged with it constantly. Over the last year, I have used it in a classic rock band at full volume to keep up with the guitarist and a thumpin' loud drummer. It has never failed despite that abuse. After three years, I did lose a caster, but other than that... no problems.

The adaptive compression works well at various volumes. Tone controls are simple and effective. XLR line-out is a big plus. The light is cheezy, but fun when drunks see it.

As always, Fender is more concerned with short-term profit than long-term customer satisfaction, so they are going to discontinue this model which is why it is on clearance. What Fender will really do: sell the same thing at a higher price with a different name. So if you want a good solid portable amp for small venues, get this now before the giant corporation flexes its greed-muscle.

i have had the amp for about a year and wow... it is great. its tone is goood. its LOUD!!! i can easily blow drummers away with it. perfect for small gigs like auditoriums and places like that. after awhile it started to get a little fuzzy so i didconnected the speaker and re connected it and its perfect again. i personally dont like the carpet because i have a dog and it picks up hair really easy.

Dissapointing

So first off, this amp sounds amazing. it has a very clear tone and a great deep sound. unfortunatley the tweeter buzzes very loudly at any volume, louder than the bass in fact, and it never stops, its just a constant hum on top of what you're playing. another problem is that for some reason the volume will be really loud one day and very quiet on another even though its always on 7. for these two reasons, i am very dissapointed in the amp, no matter how good it sounds.

I bought this amp about 4 years ago. First let me say that this amp is built pretty darn good. Mine has fallen off buses, fallen over numerous times, left in the heat, the cold, in the car, being ridden down the hallway...etc etc. It has yet to fail me. However, the only thing that has happened is that after numerous practices, gigs, and comps, the wheels have fallen off the bottom, not slipped out, but the screws were ripped out of the bottom. Other than that, it has never let me down, and for that i am grateful.

Now, on to tone. This is where this amp slightly lacks for me nowadays. Before, it sounded fine, but being a music major has changed my ear greatly, and to me this amp leaves alot to be desired overall. To me, the amp sounds 'scooped'. Like its all mids, the bass is boomy and the trebles are exaggerated. The EQ is decent, but doesn't yield great results. I use an Epiphone Accu Bass Jr and a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz. Both suffer from the same charateristics of the amp. The volume is satisfactory for practicing and jamming with my band. We play hard rock and metal, so it needs to provide. Also, I've used this amp in jazz bands with my double bass and electric bass and there is plenty of volume here, so its good that way.

Overall, its durable, has satisfactory volume, and ok tone. Its priced a bit high, but I'd say check it out first and see if you dig it then make a decision.

Hiss hiss hiss

The amp is very solid and the headphone feature is invaluable. The 15'' speaker really does give you a rumble. It can handle effect pedals and won't distort crazy on higher volumes. But the amp's tone and volume really come out when you have a good bass.

When I first started playing I had a less than descent bass and eager to try this out at practice, with it boasting 100 watts.

I was only audible with near max out volume, poor thing was drowned out at 7 and 8 settings. I was terribly dissapointed and when I was forced to go into higher volumes this hiss started screaming out of the poor thing.

After messing with the EQ I found out if you have any levels of treble it hisses like no tomorrow. Reading more reviews I found out it had something to do with the amps tweeter.

I'm stuck with the amp now since my return day policy is long been over, it's not bad, but I wish I would've just waited and saved more money for a better amp. Even with a better bass that hissing just drives me crazy.
