This amp is strictly meant for small rooms. There is no bottom end or real midrange punch. I wonder what venues others claim to have played with it? I use it in the motel room for practice. I use a BA-115 for rehersals. Go as large as you can for your first amp. There is no such thing as too large.

Depends what you want it for

I bought mine used so I wouldn't hafta schlep my other amps back & forth from gigs, rehearsal, etc. It's ok as a practice amp, but not really big enough. I like to practice with CDs and it doesn't have enough volume to play along with clarity. If you are going to use it in a bedroom situation it's fine but I'd recomend the Rumble 25 at least instead for bass practice amp. However, it does have an unintended use that makes it worth a second look as a GUITAR practice amp! I've played my Les Paul and Strat thru it and it has a pretty good clean tone for a solid-state amp. The Strat sings thru this little guy. If you want overdrive, use a pedal like a Tube Screamer. If you are into Metal, etc. you will probably be disaapointed, but if you want to play blues or jazz it'll do it on the cheap.

Practice Amp - Nothing More.

What I like: The price, the size, the headphone jack, and for simple practice it's perfect. What I don't like: If I turn up the treble too high it has a bad hiss. If I turn up the bass too high, with the volume over about 5, the amp goes into some freakish feedback loop that requires turning off the power to 'reset' the amp. I received the amp as a gift, so the price was right, but if it were up to me I'd save up a bit and buy a better amp.

I play on a MM stingray hh to start with. Which on my GK amp sounds beautiful. However when I play on this Rumbler it sounds like im playing inside a box. This is the worst amp I've ever played on. When you turn up the bass on the EQ for example it just sounds like someone is farting.
