Look, this is an old-school style jazz...

Look, this is an old-school style jazz bass with the frets ripped out. If you like the jazz bass feel, clean fretless tone, and a little, "mmwah" in your slide, this is definitely the bass for you! You'll get good recordings, good live sound, and you'll impress everyone in the room with your slides.

Truss Rod

This is a great sounding bass I love that upright sound. It has a motown sound too. But the truss rod is a weak link. That large bow in the neck is a truss rod that will finish breaking if you try to adjust it. If it is under a warranty take it to the dealer to be adjusted. The strings that come on this bass are high tension, that make good tone.

My First Bass...

Its kinda odd to get a fretless as your first bass, but I adore this bass guitar. I've had it for 4 years now, and the only problem I've had is the bridge pickup pot will continue to rotate past the point of max. volume. Otherwise, a fantastic deal on a fantastic bass.

Good AND Upgradable

This is a great bass for making the transition to fretless since its lined. The alder body is a great tone-wood for bass. It's got the basics that the great basses are known for. Now the nitty gritty....This thing is totally tweakable! When you buy a Fender you have access to upgrades you cant get for these other bass companies. Buy some parts for this thing here and there when you can afford it. Pickups, bridge, tuners, maybe even a neck down the line when you can afford it. A novice can make these upgrades because all the parts line up screw-hole wise and such. If your broke like me and cant put a 1000+ dollar bass on a credit card this is the way you have to do it. And all the while your doing this, you have a bass to play instead of some good pieces sitting in a pile waiting till you have it all to put it togather. Fender instruments OWN the upgrade market and you'll at the end of all of this have a killer bass that costs a little less then a brand new "high end" bass.

Seems like a good beginner bass

I am an upright bassist, but I am considering purchasing an electric. My friend owns this bass, and I play occasionally when we jam. For a fretless pay, this bass seems great for beginners, because it has pretty good features a great sound. Its got a beautiful look, and because its a Mexican make its not as expensive as other fender basses; and its just as good.
