I bought my Fender P Bass two years ago,and I am still very pleased this Bass is a monster. The lows are clear, the mids are punchy, and the highs are crisp I highly recommend this bass, its the only Bass I will ever play!

Precision Bass Review

Experience w/product: I have heard about it

Pros: Good tone. Tuners are great, and neck feels really great, although I'm not a rosewood person. Also, built like a rock. You could probably break through a wall with this thing without it going out of tune.

Cons: Pickups are pretty noisy. Finish is pretty thick and heavy, which reduces resonance. Bridge isn't the best; there's no tracks, so the saddles shift a bit. Also, the knobs fall off, but you can just screw them back on again in a minute.

Overall: Pretty good overall. The 2 things to replace (if you deem it necessary) are the pickups and bridge, and between the two, it won't cost you over $200.

Other thoughts: Wish it came in maple.

I own 3 fender p's. one newer american, which I left stock, one 84 japanese which I left stock and this one. The standard beaner! I put a badass II bridge and a SD quarter pounder in it and bass players everywhere drool over the tone of this bass. Awesome playability and tone! I've played thousands of gigs with it over 8 years and its still tough as a nail! $$GREAT BASS FOR YOUR MONEY$$ I've actually had people pay me so they could use it in the studio.

This bass is amazing. Ive owned mine for nearly 3 and a half years, and its stood up to all the beatings of going to band practice, gigs, and being my main bass that I play 95% of the time. I installed Seymour Duncan Quarter pounds and it sounds awsome. I recommend this bass for anybody.

Good basic bass, lacking when you need a bit more

I have been using a Precision Bass since I started playing bass. A few months ago I upgraded to this Fender Precision. I have used it consistently since then, and it has not caused any problems for me. It is a great workhorse, and lays down the low end well.

However, once I progressed in my playing and started playing more involved lines, the bass did not keep up with me. The bass does not have good tone for slap, and the neck is very thick. The tone is very thin with the tone knob up, and very muddy with the tone knob down. It lacks the growl of a Jazz bass or Musicman.

Overall, it's a great bass if you're not picky about your tone and you want to try out a bass. It will probably last forever, and I would recommend it to any rock bass player. Any funk players should definitely pass it over for a Jazz Bass or Musicman, as the tone is much better.
