Natural, Body Closeup Natural, Headstock

In designing this beautifully crafted, exotic wood J Bass, Fender incorporated a host of features guided by Victor himself. The sleek body has a koa top over rosewood and mahogany. Noiseless pickups add warmth and lows that complement the body's natural clarity and brightness. The circuitry has been tweaked with pre-shape, boost, and EQ settings to enhance the unique sonic nature of the exotic woods. For maximum headroom, the circuit is powered by an 18-volt supply. It comes with a Fender deluxe brown hardshell case, strap, cable, and Meguiar's Mist and Wipe Kit.

Worth the wait!

When I ordered this bass about two years ago, Fender had stopped production and no longer had any in stock to send me. I couldn't decide whether to wait for the VB5 or go with another bass, so glad I waited! All in all, I ended up waiting about 5 months for them to MAKE ME my bass, better than getting one off the shelves, and let me just say, it was worth the wait! Incredible tone and versatility, almost any sound can be finessed from it. When I run the VB5 into the FX Loop Return of my SVT-6PRO feeding into the SVT-810AV.... heads turn and floors shake! Only gripe is that the screws on the machine heads loosen up for some reason and I lost one of em. The price seems to have gone up a bit too I see...

I've just gotten my "Victor Bailey V"...

I've just gotten my "Victor Bailey V" and have been in the basement trying to compare and adjust my "American Deluxe Active V" to try and duplicate the same tones. I couldn't do it. There's a Stingray Hi-Fi Sizzle on the top frequencies and a smoothness that's better on the VB. The signal output is stronger and the bass seems deeper. But with all controls set at neutral, the tone seems to be fuller, however, I didn't put matching strings on both before I've decided to put my Deluxe on Consignment Sale. The agressive mids and tone of my Deluxe are now sounding more like a Stingray's growl, but not quite, as I pulled my Piezo Ray out and compared it also. Two Jazz's just confuse me, but they each have a different character. I think the Deluxe may have a Rock & Raw tone compared to a Jazz, Gospel, Old School R&B sound for the "VB".

This bass is amazing! Definitely pay some attention here. Sounds great. Nice craftsmanship, looks way better in person in regards to the wood brilliance. My only problem are the knobs were a bit loose upon arrival.

This bass has an amazingly rich tone. Check out the zawinul syndicate "faces&places" 1st track or Joe Zawinul w/WDR big band on youTube to hear for yourself! The bass is capable of sweet fat and well define sound excellent for finger style (vic primary playing style)along with killer slap tone. This excellent performance & recording machine should have had an active/passive switch!
