I've played for over 30 years, the variety of tone you can get out of one of these is amazing. For the money these stack up better then high end Fenders at the price. You need to buy long or extra long scale strings for this thing and you don't have that many choices out there, I like flatwounds so the choice is even smaller. Bottom line is this is one fine bass mine is Blueburst and it is so pretty.

Only bass that I've ever owned that the tone fit every style that I play. I've had it for 3 years and I can't put it down. The L 2500 is my first 5 string and my last.

I've owned the fretless version of this baby for about 4 years now. I play other instruments all the time at shops and friends' houses, but I always crave my L2500. I get sooooo many compliments when other bassist see it. The active/passive tones available on this bass are amazing. The only reason I'll buy another bass is to buy a fretted L2500.

keep in mind that everyone knows the Fender name.....musicians know G&L.

I bought an L2500 Black/maple about 4 years ago and haven't touched my other basses since. I do alot of Pop/R&B studio recording and the engineers/producers love it. You can dial in passive p-bass/j-bass sounds as well as modern active sounds with the switches and with out it being too 'fiddly'. I also play all types of rock in various original bands and it's awesome. Definately check one out before purchasing any other brand.

Your old bass is obsolete

I'm the kind of bassist who always gigs with a pile of basses on the stage. Since I bought this one, they are just for show. I haven't played a single other one since I bought this G&L. It has superior playability and countless tones at the flip of a switch! Yummy!
