Unleash the beast! I just bought this head a few days ago and hooked it up to my Neo 212-II cabinet, in which I bought as well. The beast has been unleashed! Here's my story. I'm the owner/bassist of my 10-piece band, that I formed in 1996. As for bass amps, I have a SWR 160 head, Ampeg B2 head w/4-10" cabinet, a David Eden CSX 300 combo, a Peavey cabinet w/15" and 2-6" tweeters, a Carvin 18" cabinet, and even an old vintage Sunn head w/tubes. Absolutely none of these, mixed or matched, came even close to the sound I'm getting from this GK rig. I put this head in a rack with a Squeeze compressor and a BBE maximizer, and oh my goodness! The high and low end is awesome, but don't cut yourself short by using this head with a cabinet that doesn't have the (horns/high end) if you want this head to serve it's full purpose. I connected a Sans Amp Tech 21 effects box for experimentation (more EQ), but it defeated the purpose. It hurt more than it helps. Lost some power. And speaking of power from this head? I play with my church choir in a fairly large santuary. I turn the volumn no more than 8:00 position, and that's too loud! I'm thinking about buying another GK rig for my band to keep from transpoting this one back and forth between gigs and playing in church every Sunday. I will probably buy a 700RB head with the same cabinet to use for church, and use the one I have for gigs. I would recommend this head to ANY bass player who's looking for that "ultimate" sound. From reggae to slappin', this head will give you what you want. A distinct sound that will send other bass players running to you asking about the rig you're using. I don't know of any other brand that can top this one. Let this be your next purchase!

I have owned this amp for 3 years, practiced and played shows with it, it's great for whatever you want to use it for ... I matched it with 2 4x10 GK RBX cabs w/ 1" horns, and it sounds amazing at any volume (although I have never even had to turn it up more than half way) it's got some major power!!! I plug a 5 sring Traben Array Premium into it, and that combination has gotten me so many compliments on my gear ... I'm sure whatever you match this up with, will make you as happy as any musician can be. You can not be disappointed with this head. If you have the money, and looking for an amp head, this is a must buy!!! I'd give it a 6 out of 5 if I could...

An Ampeg SVT3Pro served me kindly for a number of years. However, with the current project even with a 4x10 and 1x15 cab, and the SVT3 maxed out, I was often “pulling the strings harder” in a vain attempt to be heard. I bought the 1001RB based on price, power rating, and the desire to play something different, and it has turned out to be one of the best gear purchases that I've ever made. It sounds great at low practice volume in my apartment. It sounds spectacular with the band. In short, apparently GK knows what they are doing. BUY THIS AMP. Your ears and fingers will thank you.

I've abused this amp, dropped it, gotten it drenched in rain to where the red "no power up" light came on, and treated it pretty roughly, and it still keeps kickin out the sound. Great tone, versatility, and most of all, durability. If you're lookin at a cab to go with it go for a GK artist series cab so you can use the bi-amping feature. Great product GK.

Holy moses! I was using a BBE pre-amp with a CS-800 for raw power for years. I have other "head" style amps before that. I can honestly say that this the BEST head that I've ever owned. Incredible head room, clarity, power, and ease use. You can dial in a great sound in seconds, no lie. I'm using mine with a 410 Hartke, and a Peavey 18" sub, full range.......no crossover. BOOM! I can play large rooms with both cabinets or choose one or the other, depending on the size of the room. The only drawback, is that the patch panel is on the front, instead of the rear. It would make for a cleaner rack if it were on the rear of the unit. If this is my only gripe in life...I'm livin' good! BUY this head! I swear you won't be disappointed. I USE my gear and expect it to be powerful, and perform, night after night. No disappointments here. I should have gone with GK years ago. Now I now...and so should you.
