Ideal 5 string Bass Amp

I love this amp, as the other reviws you can really dial in the sound you want. I have been using it for about 3 years as a bar cover band and it takes the abuse. Not mentioned by the others is the buttom you use that accents the low B-string I've had several other amps and the low B-string required extra force to get it to sound without an EQ. This amp takes care of it. Also has a XLR direct out so if you don't want to mess with mics you don't have to, advanage is you can adjust your volume with out affecting the mix. I will buy another for backup.

This head is absolutely amazing. It's light, solid, and packs an AMAZINGLY customizable sound, like think of a sound you want. Mess with the dials, and you can get it, seriously. I messed with it, oh, an hour total (for sound) and got the perfect tone I was looking for. Listening to Tfot, I thought they had a pretty sweet bass tone. Got the tone using fingers, while he uses a pick (seriously) the amount of control you have over your tone is incredible. You Will not regret it, from what i've heard the more expensive models don't so much have sound differences, but power differences. But this thing packs a wild punch i've found, more than all 300W amps i've encountered. Very powerful.

I have owned my 400RB for over 20 years, and have used it both as my primary bass amp and to back up my custom rack-mount set up, Ampeg, and a GK 800 RB. It has great flexibility in the sounds you can get, tremendous power for a unit so small and is rock-solid dependable. I am currently using it to push a GK Goldline 2x10 and an Ampeg B115E and it sounds great! It makes a great "small" stack for club work and also works fine for outside gigs when other sound reinforcement equipment is available. Great little amp for the money!

I've had mine for 8 years. It finally went on me in a show last night. Not bad for the millage I've put on it. I play 2-5 shows a week, every week. Plan to buy another. I will be a GK user for life. I love it when the sound guys say, "Oh, cool, you don't need a DI box. Great sounding amp man."

This head is frigging awesome. Maybe a bit expensive considering the features and output (280 Watts) but well worth the price. This thing sounds incredible. GK's the best. Anything from flea to justin chancellor to some family man, it does it all. I get a slight buzz in smaller rooms but thats the only time, plus my bass can be noisy (schecter c-4). Cab sounds awesome though. Power may be a factor. It can fill med. size gigs: auditorium, gym, bassment etc.. but depends on the music. I play in a alt rock stonery band and its perfect. I also play in a prog metal band and its good there too, but i hafta push it a little. WHen more volum is needed, turn the master and boost up. Try not to have the input volume past 10 o clock or it starts to fart a little. Buy it if you dont plan on the arenas, or to stay safe, save a bit more and go for the 700rb.
