This amp is "The One". It is what you've been looking for. No lack of power, response in all ranges is amazing - the bass will shake your brain loose, and the poppy tweeter will blow your eardrums. I never have to crank it more than half total power for any show.

700 RB II problem

I bought a GK 700RBII (with 115 RBH) in May 2007 for my highschool daughter as Xmas gift I owed her over several Xmases. The amp is now dead after 2 years and 5 months. The amp was hardly used, my daughter used it at home for practice, once or twice a week, never in a gig (her school band has its own bass amp), sat in her room 2 summers. As she went on to college in Sept, I started to use it for practice. A week ago, the amp showed crackling noise, and then cut out after 5 - 10 minutes of operation, no sound afterwards. Left powered off overnight, the amp turned on okay next day, but continued to cut out after 5-10 minutes and stayed dead for the rest of the day. This cycle repeats a few more days. Last Saturday, when it was turned on, I saw some sparks and smoke coming out the front grill. I did not repower it since. Because it is over the 2 year warranty period and I live in Canada, GK (US) did not want to look at this problem. It refers me instead to a Canadian distributor who has no interest to be concerned about my problem, I can't blame them, besides servicing the unit for a fees. I really like this amp, very powerful, great sound, but expect at this price (close to 900 CN$) the amp would last a lot longer than 2 1/2 year time. Very disappointed with reliability. I wish GK takes note of these types of failures (two more before mine in this column) to correct the problem beofre users turn to their competitors

Only Head I've ever Needed

I've had this head for about 6 years now, and have never had a single problem with it. It has always held up for any size gig, and has even seen a few dozen recording sessions. The tone is amazing and unmatched. I have tried other brands such as Ampeg, SWR, Trace Elliot, and Hartke, but have never been as impressed as I am with GK. It's reliable, has excellent tone, and the price can't be beat. Highly recommended.

Simply... The Best

I can't praise this head enough. There is absolutely no better value out there. Lots of head room, the GK growl (growls easier than the 1001rbII), and is probably the warmest of the RB series heads. The HMS is a nice touch.... you can crank up the growl, but keep the sound coming from your horn clean (caveat - must use a GK HMS capable cabinet). I've had this head for two years now, and haven't had a single problem. This is the ultimate club gigging head. And the DI is great.... allows you to do a lot bigger stuff than just clubs. You can't go wrong with this head!

Big Surpize from a great package.

I just recently purchased my 700RB Mark II at a very good price. It was a huge step up from my Bassman 400 combo.(still OK for small gigs)I am totally impressed with its capability to deliver that clarity especially with a 5 string Warwick "Vette" I use it w/ a 410 GK GLX Gold Line enclosure and am adding the 410RBX II cabinet for the full measure of output from the 50w tweeter which is inactive without it. This little monster is like having a Tyrannosaurus Rex on a leash! I pulled it out of the box, hooked it up and was blown away. Its definitely more than what you'd expect to get from the modest price. I strongly recommend this head. Its the best piece of equipment you'll ever own, again, for its price. The only draw back is the Speakon connections. But adapters and ready made cables solve that issue. Thanks GK.
