I gig mine regularly without a backup. The wattage rating on these might seem to equal that of cheaper amps, but don't be fooled. 300 here seems to equal 500 in other amps that I've owned and gigged. (eden, mesa, swr) Every reviewer on here will tell you that this is the real deal.

You're probably going to read this and still buy some other amp with more "modern" features and seemingly flashier specifications. You'll be missing out. I did mark the "value" as 4. It's not a cheap amp for the specifications. It depends on what you consider value. It's not a "value" amp. Niether is an SVT. But they are worth what they cost.

This head kills both the Eden Metro and the Mesa Boogie Basis M2000 that I had previously. This amp has soul. This amp has reliability. And it's got the sound. 4 EQ knobs do everything that you need on stage.

I've seen these in festival size stage rigs (Levon Helm band's DB player at the gathering of the vibes) and all over the local scene. Name another solid state amp still in production this long! Enough said.

This is a monster bass amp

This is the first review I've ever written. But I must say that this is a monster of an amp. 33 years of playing nationwide and in studio have convinced me. I have 26 basses and only one amp that I rely on for the "big shows" and "critical gigs". Believe me, I've tried most of them. I currently own Ampeg, Eden, Yamaha, SWR and MusicMan. But this is "my sound". 1-15" & 1"4-10" for the lows, 1-2-10 for th highs. Hartke XL's. My Warwick, Pedula, MusicMan, Kubickis, Fenders P's and J's and Gibson Thunderbirds sound GREAT through it. Don't hesitate. This is the real deal.

I have played the same RB800 for almost 20 years. I have used all types of cabinets mostly in biamp mode. I have played it soft and played it hard. It has never let me down. Ihave heard from many concerning the newer models failing probably because of switching to CHINA for the production. Made in the USA last like mine

GK 800RB: An Uber-Amp

I bought this amp used from a friend about 7 years ago. It's a real workhorse, has excellent tone through a wide range of cabinets, and an adjustable electronic crossover, which is real valuable when using several different cabinet combinations. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I had to replace this unit.

the best solid state

I bought this head and run it trough an Ampeg 8x10 about two years ago, and I couldn't be happier. You get so much variety of tone out of this, and not to mention the power it delivers. I was recently in a car accident and it got tossed around and still works perfect just like the day I bought it. You can't get a better solid state head for this price. I highly recommend the G&K 800 RB.
