I have used this amp on many occasions. For the price, you get decent power and good sound with a lot of pro features. The drivers are good, though there is not a compression horn. The highs still cut through, but the tone isn't as crisp on the top end as I would prefer. I don't really use overdrive in my bass playing, but the overdrive on the head is pretty good. The preamp has a great EQ section. This combo isn't terribly heavy; unless you have a back problem, you should be able to load this combo without additional assistance. I wish that the amp delivered all 300 watts without an extension cab, but the 200 watts of the combo is good enough for a small - medium venue. The XLR out makes this amp usable in larger venues to run through the PA.
Overall, this is a really good combo with some pro features. Great for weekend warriors.
Amazing amp

I'm a converted guitarist, and this is my first quality amp.
Let me tell you...this amp is friggen sick.
I'll keep it short and simple, but this amp can pretty much hit whatever tone you're looking for. It has an amazing distortion/overdrive capability that makes it sound more like a baritone guitar with some nice distortion on it. It sounds excellent clean as well. Can also give that nice growly sound.
It's extremely well built, and fairly heavy considering it's not all that big. But it has good, quality handles on the side so you and a buddy can lug it around. It also has that lean-back capability which is nice if you're jamming with the band and need some more clarity in hearing yourself.
My only complaint would be that for a 200W amp, I was expecting it to be a bit louder. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty loud, but not quite as loud as I was expecting. At least it's capable of connecting to another cab to boost up to 300W. I'm in a band at the moment, and we'll likely just be doing small gigs for now so it's fine.
Best Amp I've Owned

This is my first 'real' bass amp and it rocks. It is sturdy, cool looking, and versatile. I use it in a bluegrass gospel band, my school's pep band, and my hard rock band. It is easily loud enough for small gigs with the bluegrass band, and for football and basketball games with the pep band. As for the rock band, it can compete with my guitar player's Marshal half stack as long as he doesn't crank it all the way up.
I love the wide range of tones I can get out of this amp with my Fender Jazz Bass. The distortion is cool, though I don't use it much. The boost knob adds a really cool overdrive sound.
This amp is tough enough to handle being loaded in and out of the backs of pickups without showing any signs of wear. After about nine or 10 months the spring broke on one of the handles, so it doesn't snap back in place, but it's not that big of a deal.
Great amp if you're looking to upgrade, or just for a good amp at a good price.
A nice surprise

I tried this at the store and it blew me away. It instantly made me a better player. I got a cracking once in a while, not sure if it's the windows in the house though. I use it for a church praise band. The volume is at 3 and it just fills the room(80x80). The equalizer is set at all 12. This give a nice warm thump for the music I play. We practice sometimes for three hours or more and it gives reliable sound every time. The direct out is also a plus as the sound man can adjust up or down when the room is empty or full. great bargain overall!
Yeah baby!

I purchased this amp to replace a vintage ampeg. What a difference. This amp is clean, it sounds great, 10's are tight and responsive. I usually run the gallien eq flat and pull a little bit of the mids and highs out on my bass. I love the kick back design and the portability. Great job Gallien!
