I bought one of these brand new at a local music store. I was so psyched to bring it to practice and try it out, especially since it featured the "bottom" control. Even with the bottom knob turned at 100 percent you still lose bottom. The funny thing is, with all knobs turned at 100 percent you still lose volume. I tried it with a battery and a power brick but nothing helped. I asked the local music store if it was a default and the guy said no thats just how they are. Ive also read another review that said the same thing. The only reason it is so expensive is because of the GK tag. Please do not waste your money on this product. You will be very disappointed. Once you step on this pedal, you will not be able to hear your self over the guitar and drums. It sounds fine by itself, but if you play in a band don't buy it. My endless search for a bass distortion pedal that keeps the bottom continues.

There aren't any tubes in it, but it sounds AMAZING. I use it with my Sunn 300T (now made as the Fender Bassman 300). it sounds so good I sold my Boss overdrive AND my SansAmp GT2.

Forget about losing your low end. I played this pedal through 15's, 12's, and 10's made by Mesa Boogie, Ampeg, and Peavey. They all sounded great! Ideal for bass, this pedal has plenty of headroom and just sounds fuller than other bass pedals I've used. It IS a huge pedal (bigger than an EH Memory Man, if you can believe that), but well worth the room on your pedal board.

I had been considering an overdrive pedal for a while for my 700RBII and SBX410+ setup. After hearing great things about the 2001 head and learning the circuitry from it is in the Dawg, my decision was simple. It produces a wide variety of overdrive sounds from a light fuzz to heavy distortion. I dialed in a similar sound to Cliff Burton Anesthesia quite easily. The thing is built like a tank The great thing is the Dawg has a Mid control that the 2001 head doesn't have allowing even more control. I'm giving all 8s because I have to admit I didn't try any other overdrive pedals.. besides, nothing in this world is perfect!

this thing is built like a tank. you can dial in a warm fuzztone to full raging guitar-like death metal growl, while keeping all the low frequencies lost by many other pedals. amazing.

It's very simple. The sound is great. BUT, no matter how I dialed it in, it wasn't loud enough. Here'd come the big distorted bass part and I'd kick the pedal on and my overall sound would DROP, even though I had a fresh battery, it was brand new, and I tried every possible setting. I had to return it, big disappointment. For a few bucks more you can get the Sans Amp DI box, which does way more.
