The Goldline 500 Bass Amp Head
The Goldline 500 was developed by Gallien-Krueger to complement the look and tone of the GLX series bass enclosures. It features a 500-watt, solid state amplifier and a foot-switchable boost "valve effect" channel. Gate-Induced Valve Effect, or G.I.V.E. technology, was developed by Bob Gallien in 1972 and is part of what gives G-K its distinctive sound. This amplifier is made using the same quality components as G-K's professional products, such as a high-current power supply for maximum punch and a toroidal transformer for greater efficiency. The adjustable contour and active four-band EQ make it simple to dial in a great sound. The Goldline 500 Amp Head delivers a warm, punchy tone with a fast transient response that not only sounds better, but feels better. The Goldline series is the perfect marriage of affordability and outstanding quality.

The Goldline 410GLX Bass Speaker Cabinet:
The Gallien-Krueger Goldline 410GLX Bass Cabinet is loaded with 4x10" Paragon Goldline aluminum cone loudspeakers designed and manufactured by G-K. Goldline audio speakers are designed to deliver a rich, warm, golden tone with a little extra sparkle in the top end. Front slot-porting is used for enhanced low bass response. Gallien Krueger has given special care to the cabinet design in order to eliminate standing waves so that nothing gets in the way of your performance. The result is a thick low-end with a smooth, even response across the entire frequency spectrum. The speaker cabinet features black carpet coverings, recessed, spring-loaded handles, rugged steel grille, custom interlocking corners and removable casters.

Bought this amp in January 2009, and played it consistently until August. Around July, the speakers started rattling and sounded very distorted. Cabinet is no longer playable and I am having to take it to a repair shop. Will be selling asap to get something else. Very disappointed with the quality. The top left speaker moves a ton, yet the other three barely move at all.

I love this cab, I have a different head. The only problem is that the head I own is 300 watts. That was still enough juice to blow 2 of the speakers. Basically the GK warranty will tell you that using the product voids that warranty. Paring a 500 watt head with a 200 watt RMS cab is silly. I had to crack it open after repair to fix the rest of the solder points. They are snap together. The speakers look like they should handle 400 watts but watch out on that. Not all the specks match up. Other then that its great.

First of all, some of the information posted on this page is incorrect. The correct freq. response on the cab is 50Hz to 7kHz. Note that the cab is 8 ohms. So, you're going to get 350 watts out of this head with cab alone. Also, it weighs 104 lbs, not the 93 lbs. listed here. The EQ on the head is very powerful and touchy, mids are easy to get going and in fact this set up has so much low to it that I actually like the bass EQ below half, whereas on my Acoustic B100 I have to have the bass at 3/4 to get what I want out of the low end. The more you crank the contour, the more the mids are dropped and the highs and lows are boosted. GK does NOT recommend using a 115 GlX with this head. I think you could use a grunge pedal in the FX loop and get the same effect as the boost channel here. The highs are nice, these are aluminum cones after all. Because this head has a high current capacity, your transients aren't limited and your amp keeps up with all your string slaps, power surges, etc. I haven't used this rig at a show yet. The cooling system on the head is very efficient. If the amp senses any shorts or damaged speakers, etc. it automatically shuts itself off. I used to struggle to keep up with my bud's Peavey Bandit 112. Not anymore.

This was the only thing I got for my 16th birthday and man do I love it. Head is very simple to use yet has quite a few handy additions that mke it very useful. Very loud and powerful. Get it if you got the money!

This amp is the shizznite! It's the only thing I got for my 16th birthday and I couldn't have been happier. 500 Watts shakes the very core of gigs and has the best sounds for the studio. The head isvery simple and yet has some very cool extras. The -10dbs button is very useful for a more "controlled" tone. It is durable, and light considering it's size and all in all a professional stack for a working musician. If you've got the cash, get it!
