budget price, T-Bird tone!

I love Gibson basses. They have more "personality" than the other name basses, IMO. I have a '65 Thunderbird that I no longer take to gigs. It's too old, too frail, & too valuable to risk taking it to bar gigs!

My Gibson Les Paul Money Bass gets me >95% of the T-Bird tone at an affordable price. It looks cool, plays great, & sounds LIKE A GIBSON!

My only wish is that Gibson had used a larger radius router bit when rolling the edges. That's a small gripe. Damn nice bass.

the best I've played

I gave this a 4.5 for everything except the overall, because It's the best that I've played so far (but I've only owned 3 other basses). My other basses were Ibanez and an OLP, and I have to say that this one blows them away in terms of quality and workmanship. The finish is beautiful and the action is awesome. I have to say that the two humbucker-like pickups are not what I am used to, and they sound a little bright. However, the brightness does not take away from the low tones (which are immaculate, and perfect) and can easily be toned down with the tone knob. The neck is thin at the top and gets little thicker the farther down the neck you go (toward the headstock). The width of the fretboard (side to side) stays the same. I don't know if this is normal, but it makes playing high notes a little easier (I am a 60's neck guy). Overall, I still have to give this bass a 5+ because of the workmanship, the beauty of the finish, and the sound, which is just immaculate once you turn the tone down a bit. Of course, some people like the bright, punk rock sound, and that is cool too. This bass rocks, and will look great under the spotlight!

I just got this bass a few days ago and I can not put it down. First of all, the looks: there is not one SINGLE flaw in the design of this bass. It is just an amazing clear color. And it sound awesome too. The thunderbird pickups ive the tone a very deep sound, great for a lot of rock and blues. I greatly recommend this bass to whoever has the money. It is the same exact thing as the more expensive one. What a steal!!!!
