A '70s Gibson classic!

The Limited Edition Ripper Bass brings back a Gibson favorite of the '70s with a hard maple body and matching maple neck and fingerboard. The back of the neck has a satin finish for smooth feel while the fingerboard has a high gloss polyurethane finish that will protect it for years. A brass nut has been added to increase sustain. Another new wrinkle is a split-coil, single-coil pickup combination with individual volumes, master tone, and 3-way switching for greater tonal range. A great bass from the past with its unique styling and custom touches that enhance performance. The Limited Run Ripper Bass is limited to just 350 instruments, and each one comes with a special Limited Run Series certificate of authenticity and a black hardshell case with white interior and silkscreened Gibson USA logo.

Mine, since new in "74. I gig-tested a Fender Jazz Bass and the Ripper, which was more expensive. Hands down, the Ripper is the best. While giging, I've had Fender Bass Men come to the stage to find out "Man-what are you playing on". Absolutely no down time or failures. You get what you pay for and more.

I own an original Ripper Bass,(1975 Model).Bought as a gift from my Father to me, as a teenager this Bass was carried with it's versatile sound into my adulthood. Going in and out of musical genres and styles this bass has stood the test of time.Having to play with some of the industry's best Artists,Rec.Engineers,song Writers & musicians this Bass never needed to be placed in a repair Shop for repairs!! Now I'm nearly age 50 a seasoned pro & I still record with this Bass!! I encourage any Bassist to purchase this limited edition Ripper Bass,They're built to last...What A Great Bass!!

I own a 1974 original ripper that has been put through every test you could think of.... awesome bass! The new version looks very similar, and the updated features are right on the money too, but the price isn't. There is not enough cosmetic artistry to warrant such a high price. Hope Gibson continues to build this bass anyway though (and lowers the price too!)
