The Godin A4 Semi-Acoustic bass produces superb acoustic bass sounds from an instrument that is only slightly larger than a standard solid-body bass and much lighter. The 2-chambered body design resists feedback as well as the negative effects that loud stage levels can have on top vibration. Vibration of the solid cedar top is further controlled by a cello inspired bracing pattern. The custom A-Bass electronics include an under-saddle ribbon transducer and preamp by L.R.Baggs. Includes gig bag.

The A4 bridges the gap between standard solid-body electric basses, and full-bore acoustic bass guitars. The on-board eq can produce a wide range of tone, and the semi-acoustic nature of the instrument lends a natural woody tone to them all. You can use either standard nickle/stell strings or any of the tapewounds for a more "organic" upright-like tone. First-rate woods and construction, great electronics package, and an ergonomic, simple to the point design. Easy to play, big FUN to play; it adds a great dimension to the sounds of the bass in a rhythm section. I'm really enjoying playing mine.

Took a chance on this one and played a gig with it the very day I bought it. The tone is great. It is about as pure string tone as I've ever heard from an electric bass. It has superb low end too. I am very impressed with the quality of the Godin basses. For the cost, it beats the bejeebers out of Fender, who has lost my business forever.
