A Great Bass

I can't say enough good things about this bass. I bought it as a backup for my vintage Gretsch basses and now I use it as my main gigging bass with my old basses relegated to backups. I love the sounds I can get out of these new TV Jones designed Thundertrons; from Rockabilly, Jazz, Country, Classic Rock or Motown this thing can produce all of the vintage sounds I love and has enough presence to cut through the drums in a noisy hall and be heard. I play mine with flat wounds and through Ampeg amps. This is a well-built bass too, everything is solid and tight, comfortable and well balanced and the action can be easily set low and fast just the way I like it plus, it's very lightweight which will save your back on all night gigs. My favorite feature is being able to individually set the volume on each of the pickups so I can mix exactly the sound I like between the neck and bridge pickups. Visually, this bass is a stunner, I have received compliments on its looks after every gig I've played it on. The look is clearly refernces those beautiful Gretsch Tennessean basses from the 1960's. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the price is a bit much when you consider that an American made Fender will probably run you half as much but then again, you'll just be playing another Fender instead of being the only kid on the block with that amazing Gretsch sound and the drop-dead good looks you'll get from this fine instrument.

Rockabilly Baby!

This bass is well balanced on your shoulder. That means smooth, quick runs especially with the ease of the jumbo frets. The 30.4 scale is especially nice if you don't want to stretch in the lower registers or you have short fingers. The string action is less tense due to the shorter scale and allows for easy bar chording. The finish is superior and the pickups sound great without any tweeking. I have read that the bass is heavy. I don't find that to be true. In fact, it is about 2/3 the weight of my Fender with better action and balance.

Outstanding bass to play. If you want to play country, Classic rock and roll, Blues, Jazz funk. This bass will turn you on. Thunder tron pick ups are powerful. Add a high quality tube amp, 4 tens and 15 for your cabs. You will smoke the crowd. Buy on you will love it.
