I fell in love with Cheap Trick and King's X at an early age and "Had to have" that bass. Yeah, 12'ers are great, but would recommend holding out for a bit higher end one like the Waterstone. The neck on this thing is HEAVY. However, Hammer decided to put it on a lightweight, guitar sized body. And active electronics? Like I said love the sound, especially when playing in a group with only one guitar player. I have owned this beast for about 9 years now and it sits in a gigbag in the closet. Like I said, hold out for a better 12 or even 8.

Take the following with a grain of salt: for the MONEY (which what most people think about), this is simply the best 12 string bass you can buy. Before buying this bass, though, think about that number. Twelve. Just by thinking and looking at the picture, you can see that the neck will be thick. Part of the sound comes from the number of strings; they're not there 'just because'. The two octave strings feed off of each other, giving the 12ver its unique sound. You don't need a pick to play it, just a bit of practice with fingers. Excellent controls; very versatile. This bass is not for every style, though! Don't bring this to your jazz or gospel gig (but most people wouldn't anyway). Excellent value.

I'm a guitarist, but as a Cheap Trick & King's x fan, I had to have a 12 string bass. Buying the Hamer Chapparel CH-12 was a no brainer. At 1/2 the price of the USA model, the playability is great and the tone circuits go from thick to shimmering with only minor adjustment. The sound of this thing is absolutely amazing!

I have played this bass many, many times and I am still in love with it. The tone is fantastic and the action is great. I love the hum buckers on this bass. I have so much fun when playing this as it is out of the ordinary. NOT FOR THOSE WITH SMALL FINGERS! Also, a pick is highly recommended. Great job Hammer!

too many strings for a bass...

I used this bass in a local music store, and I must say that it is not all that I thought it was. It definitely had a unique sound, but not worth the money to have 12 strings on a bass. I recommend getting a higher end 8 string bass, and you will get the same effect but enhanced with better electronics, etc.
