In 1956, Walter Hofner had an idea for an amplified semi-acoustic bass. When it was brought to life, it proved a unique instrument with a smooth, sweet sound and a playing ease that simply eludes most ordinary basses. Many players revere Hofner's Violin Bass as a legend because of its historical significance and its warm, woody, double-bass-like amplified tone.

Named for the year the most familiar version of the Violin Bass was popularized, the Vintage '63 captures its characteristic tone - deep, warm and reminiscent of a full-size string bass. Built to be as durable as its legacy, the compact-sized, easy-to-play, light-in-weight Vintage '63 is equally at home onstage or in the studio.

I'm a huge Paul Mccartny fan so that's why I bought this bass in the first place but than I jammed with it a we bit and noticed it was the beat beass I had ever played with. So while I was jammim me band came down and said what a beautiful bass it was. They not only liked the style but the sound was amazing, also the lush body was so cumfy on me hands. If you like to play bass by this one its incredible. Beleive me.

My first German Hofner

I recently purchased a left handed 63 Hofner Bass and after playing it I found that it almost played itself. The tone of this Bass is far superior to many other Bass guitars. Prior to this I had a Rogue Bass and a Hofner Icon Bass and even though the Icon Bass was the same shape and style it did not produce the sound quality of the German Hofner. Even though the German Hofner was much more expensive if you are a dedicated Bass player you could not do better than this.

A Very Fine Bass

This bass, is very nice and well built, you can tell just by looking at it. It has a beefy neck and small fretboard, which is something I really enjoy in my playing style. The solo, bass and treble pick-ups are a nice feature too. Overall this is an excellent bass, the only problem is that is lack fret indicators on the side of the neck so when you are playing you may sometimes land flat or sharp, but overall this is an excellent bass and I would suggest it to anyone.
